Daniel BRUGH was born 1762 in York County, Pennsylvania. He died 1825. Daniel married Elizabeth.

In 1806, Daniel built a grist mill on Mill Creek at the intersection of the Fincastle road and the "Great Road" which was the mian thoroughfare for travelers from the north going south and west--which has been re-surveyed and re-located and is now known as the Lee Highway (Route #11). This mill served the community close to 90 years, when it was remodeled into a barn and the adjoining sawmill dismantled. In the memory of some of us still lingers the winding mill race around the mill that brought the water from up-stream into a big boxed trench on a trestle from the hill to the big wheel which seemed to turn so fascinatingly to childish minds. The water, often overflowing the trunk as it rushed on, made a pretty picture that will never be forgotten. How busy and happy must have been those early days in the Brugh home as the eight sturdy sons and four daughters were rapidly growning to manhood and womanhood. One can visualize the good times afforded by these young people to others of the neighborhood.
Herman, the eldest son was married to Mary Painter in 1807; peter married Elizabeth Coffman in 1806; Mary married Thomas Smith, 1812; John married Catherine Petersr, 1814; Abraham married Barbara Coffman, 1816; Daniel married Catherine Painter, 1817; Catherine married Jacob Kessler, 1818; Sarah married Henry Stair, 1819; Samuel married Lucinda Peterman, 1827; Jacob Brugh returned to Pennsylvania to make his home and married Mary Moritz; Isaac, the only unmarried child died at the age of 39.
Daniel Brugh was a Revolutionary soldier. Hios son, John, a private in the War of 1812; his grandsons jacob p. and Edward; great grandsons, Rufus, George, Effiah, Abraham, jr. and Robert M. Brugh and Adam and Oliver Rader were veterans of the Civil War. The last two named made the supreme sacrifice as a result of the battles at Point Lookout and Seven Pines respectively.
