Long Marton
Long Marton is a railway station on the Settle and Carli Railway. I chose it to model, because it was a through station. The origninal intent of my layout was as a tail chaser for show exibiting. This is served quite well. The problem is that I made it too narrow
. So, if I was to rebuild it, It would be on 3 ft wide baseboards rather than 2 foot wide ones. It seems, that no matter how much space you have, you can fill it. In fact, the idea that I have for a second one would be quite different from the present setup. The present
setup is a 6 by 18 hollow donut. The front is the actual station, the curves are not there in the real thing, and the back is open. If I were to redo it, the whole thing would be exposed frontage. The ends would be spiral tunnels down, and the lower level would be storage.
If I ever have the area out here to do it, that is how I will do it. I like the setup of the station, and would not hesitate to reccomend it as a good design for a tail chaser.
