Regarding 'Obsessions'

Fresh Obsessions | About | Visited Obsessions

"Aquamarine" is my personal site and has always been dedicated to Mercury and Zoisite (my favourite fictional couple), from the manga serial: Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon.  The site's name comes from a couplet I made up about the two of them:

Her eyes are blue
His eyes are green
Together they make
Aquamarine

Since its inception, "Aquamarine" has always hosted all my favourite things in the world: fan fiction (especially the sub-genre of Senshi-Shitennou romance), music, pretty pictures, and things that make me laugh.  I hope you like the site as much as I had fun making it.

LAYOUT
In the current layout, all the senshi and shitennou sprites are courtesy of Spirit-hime, who is too awesome for words.  You can adopt the majority of them at Mint Julep, but the main sprite used liberally throughout my site was made for me especially, so no taking!

To make the current layout, I used Adobe Photoshop CS to edit the picture below, which is a wallpaper from the manga serial: NANA.  The added text was Old English Text MT (Old English Text MT) font, with brushstrokes made from Parchment (Parchment) font.

a page from original siteoriginal homepagePrevious layouts include: the initial original version of Aquamarine.  You can see how crude my HTML skills were.  Though, I have to say, not a bad effort considering my inexperience.

version 2 homepageVersion 2: Distant City Lights, was too hastily launched before I even finished editing all the pages.  Half-way through I realised how bulky and disorganised my coding was and dropped it.  initial version 3 homepageFurthermore, I had attempted to make each page different and interesting in design while retaining a similar thread in theme, which was too much work to undertake in the end.  Though, a new concept introduced was the use of an image map; which I tried to use in creative ways like in this initial, alternative a page from other version 3other version 3 homepageVersion 3; named, Lounge Kitsch, where the coloured furniture would lead to different areas of the site.  Like Version 2, it was clumsy and was dropped.  I waited a while before attempting another layout and found plenty of material in the manga series: Tenshi Nanka Ja Nai (I'm Not An Angel).  I went ahead, all excited and soon found it to also be too much work: I was over-complicating things by making each page different and interesting.  Though at this stage, I had learnt the use of div layers.  Later when I discovered how to inset an area of scrolling text without an iFrame, I combined it with div layers, image maps, and my improved Photoshop skills to create the current layout.  It's been a long journey, but it has been worth it.  This version is here to stay for a very long time.
