Bolarus IX, also called Bole, Bolius, or Bolia, is famous for the Cliffs of Bole and the Bank of Bolius.
Bolians have blue skin and a bifurcating ridge running up the body and over the head. They may also have purplish markings running perpedicular to the ridge on the crown of the head. Bolian earlobes are long and also have a bifurcated appearance. Almost all Bolians are hairless. Bolians have blue blood which is chemically incompatible with most other humanoid species. The Bolian tongue has a cartilaginous lining. The Bolian digestive system is quite different from other humanoids.
Bolians are known as a talkative and social people. Bolian cuisine traditionally makes use of meat that has partially decayed. Bolian tonic water is considered very refreshing. Marriages of Bolians may include more than one partner, such as a co-husband. The name "Frederick" translates as an obscenity in the Bolian language. Bolians support the "Double Effect Principle" a form of assisted suicide dating back to their Middle Ages. Bolians can be found throughout Starfleet and in important Federation positions. Until approximately 2366, Bolarus IX was involved in a protracted conflict with the Moropa.
