"I'm pleased, and at the same time, ashamed to say how realistic the opening scene was. It was so realistic in fact...that I thought it was a real interruption, and I immediately began cursing the Fox network and news reports in general, that is until I recognized the ugly blue car and the equally ugly pink shirt. Then I blushed a really nice shade of pink and started recording. The whole episode was really fast pace, and had two major plots going on. The government testing, and Mulder and Scully stuck at manure assignments...literally. This is even worse then the stuff Mulder got stuck with in the second season, sure he was in the sewer, but at least he got to....got to, well it might rank right up there with manure detail, but at least it was interesting. The best effect was the pulsing in the head, and all that blood splattering everywhere. And DD did surprisingly well at sitting in a car the whole episode and looking like he was actually working at driving. I'm not degrading his acting abilities, far from it, I just thought it would be hard to act in practically one position the whole time. It seems to me that when Crump, oh excuse me, Mr. Crump, was talking about how it was taking away his dignity and how it wasn't right, I got the feeling X-Files was talking about Mulder and Scully in an undertone. My hate for Kersh is awesome, he is EVIL!!!! But until we kill him its fun having him around to hate. And wow, Scully was really chewed out about defending Mulder, and she actually didn't conform!! Go Scully!!! This almost makes up for the ahem, betrayal last Sunday. On a tangent, I'm not upset with the loss of Vancouver, we get to see different landscape. And in the case such as Mulder looking out at the water in the end, its something new for X-Files, and I'm grateful, it was lovely."

"A tale of ear plug inducing government paranoia that covers a long stretch of highway yet never really hits the gas pedal of suspense to create the necessary driving intensity, this episode has a Wellsian " War of the Worlds " C.O.P.S. and X-Files crossover beginning. The X-Files always gains a power surge when it blurs the distinction between reality and its own warped base. Blurring the X-Files with reality based television is just an extension of what the show has been doing since day one to great effect. The atmosphere created by the look of the show which is evident in this episode gives a long needle injection into the ear of the commonplace and makes the show compelling to watch. The termination of the X-Files as well as the creation of another Skinner type character are both useless as far as adding anything to the show and, in fact, are more of an annoyance. It would be better to concentrate on pure story and the artful way the show is shot than on such time wasting plot contrivances. You have to give the shows producers credit though, they are continually trying to come up with new stuff, nothing ear drum shattering so far this season, but enough to make the great American trek quoter Horace Greely shout, "Go West Young Man!" until your ears bleed."

"This one was way too simple for our dynamic duo. It had a plain and simple (relatively speaking) explanation for why this guy went psycho and why heads were busting up. Plus, I didn't like the COPS-like introduction. I was waiting for the announcer from REALTV to start blabbing about what amazing footage this is."

"This was the best Monster of the Week since 'All Souls.' Good music, and Scully with the hazmat guys was classic. David Duchovny was great in this one too."

"I thought the storyline was interestiong, but they could have done more with it."
