Hollywood A.D.

"This zombified pile up of Garry Shandling, Tea Leoni, holy men and Hollywood has writer director Duchovny throwing plot lines, people and paragraphs of dialogue around in a Jackson Pollack-like endeavor to be interesting. Ultimately it all becomes unfocused. You can't just cram a hundred good ideas together and expect any of them to have any ability to resonate. This seemed as if it were written and directed by a man with a lot to say who felt that he would say it all in the space of an hour. Impossible. The episode would have worked if Duchovny had followed either the comedic Hollywood or the disturbing Christ storyline, but the two together mixed in with all the extra cutesy character scenes and people Duchovny knows in real life, just add up to an insignificant graveyard filled with the tombstones of ideas."

"I'm giving it an eight in the hopes that it'll grow on me when I watch it again. 'The Unnatural' was much more precise and focused. This was a whirl dervish of activity and plot that seemed to be split sloppily into two: The actual events, and the glamor scenes (which were hilarious) at Hollywood. I think the episode would have been much more clear had it been a recap such as 'Bad Blood' or 'Unrequited.' Beyond that it was all right, it just seemed a little frivolous. Dead people dancing the two step in the ending scene didn't quite endear itself to me as did Mulder and Scully playing baseball in 'The Unnatural.' Still, it was better than 'all things' and 'En Ami.'"

"I only gave it a 9 because it was so hilarious (Gillian Anderson teaching Tea Leoni how to run in heels). Otherwise I don't really like how it deviates from the typical X-Files setup."
