Giant-Size X-Men #1
|
In Storm's very first appearance
she is topless, although her long, flowing hair makes this a fairly
subtle touch. |
UXM 101
|
Although Professor Xavier apparently talked
Storm into a fairly traditional X-uniform, she has always been
quick to opt for a more natural look. In this issue, she strips
down to wash up in a summer shower of her own making for the first
time. This becomes a trademark of sorts for her. The rain, her
hair, and body position usually are utilized in these scenes to
stay within code.
|
UXM 109
|
Storm taking a ‘natural' shower again.
|
UXM 117, also UXM 150, UXM 161, UXM 280
|
When Professor Xavier travels in his astral
(or mental) form, he appears to us as a sort of nude ghost. It's
a "Ken doll" sort of nudity, as even frontal views with lighting
show no genitalia whatsoever, but the curve of his buttocks is
sometimes shown.
|
UXM 120
|
Storm is nude beneath a robe here, which doesn't
become apparent until she gestures to try and control a storm...lucky
for her, the details are hidden in shadows.
|
UXM 136
|
After a psychic struggle between the Phoenix
and Professor Xavier, Jean's costume apparently disintegrates,
leaving a nude Jean hugging Cyclops. Jean's father quickly provides
a robe for her. All very carefully shadowed.
|
UXM 147
|
On the cover of this issue, as well as inside,
Storm is once again topless...well, okay, there are two long,
sheer, wispy pieces of her scarf carfelly blocking the details,
but that's not a top. At least not while it's not tied at the
back, it's not. (Interestingly, Dr. Doom expresses an interest
in Ororo in this issue - although by the time he does so, she
has carefully retied the wisps back into a halter of sorts.)
|
UXM 152
|
Ororo in lingerie as the White Queen; on the
last page, this outfit disintegrates in the air in front of six
X-Men and three others. Not a problem; in case you hadn't noticed,
this lady ain't real shy.
|
UXM 156
|
The male X-Men are more discreet (or perhaps
just not as marketable?). No matter how tough a fight may get,
they seldom lose their briefs. (Why don't they make the rest of
their costumes out of the same material?) However, there are exceptions.
Colossus is nude in a life support module here, and except for
the ‘medic' hovering strategically above him, we'd have a great
view.
|
UXM 160
|
Storm and outdoor shower again; this time she
offers to share her shower with the other X-Men. She also goes
skinny-dipping in this issue. (Perhaps we should start calling
her "Nature Girl" instead of the "Nature Goddess"?)
|
UXM 163
|
No, she's not an X-Man, but she is Wolverine's
friend, so I'm including her here. Carol Danvers is nude on the
splash page; the combination of light and shadows from the alien
beams hitting her hide the details. Freed later by Wolverine,
she falls naked into his arms. He puts a robe on her. Hey, that's
what friends are for.
|
UXM 168
|
Ororo goes for a walk in the snow. To quote
from the issue itself, "The air is bitter cold, her only protection
a white fur cloak, but she doesn't seem to mind." And sure enough,
three panels later she drops the coat to ‘open herself' to the
radiance of the sunrise, nude again.
|
UXM 186
|
In "Lifedeath", Ororo is briefly nude (seen
carefully from the side) as she selects a dress to wear.
|
UXM 194
|
We get a glimpse here of Rogue in the shower.
Her arms, lathering herself up, block her breasts from view.
|
UXM 202
|
Rogue wakes Storm up to notify her of a crisis,
and of course Storm was sleeping in the buff. The shadows of her
plants carefully provide a discreet covering. (We are often given
glimpses of the X-Folk in bed, and Ororo usually seems to be nude
beneath the covering sheet, but that's just my impression.)
|
UXM 205
|
Not an X-Person, true, and scary to boot, but
here's a nude Lady Deathstrike, with her butt, breast curves,
and bio-mechanics showing. Yeeks!
|
UXM 233
|
Drawing the very sexy Goblin Queen outfit must
have gotten the artist all heated up, because there are numerous
nude appearances during the "Inferno" series. In this issue, a
nude Jean Grey is created from a mannequin by Cyclops in Madelyne
Pryor/Summers' nightmare. In the end of this emotionally-charged
sequence, Maddie's clothes dissolve. The distance of the figures
hides any details.
|
UXM 234
|
In the continuation of this storyline, we see
a nude Maddie being reborn as the Goblin Queen; wisps of steam
and shadows cover her carefully.
|
UXM 236
|
In one of my favorite scenes, Rogue and Wolverine
have been "modemed in" to Genosha after being captured by the
press gang in Australia. The transfer causes them to arrive in
their ‘birthday suits', fighting mad. Nude, they fight off what
appears to be dozens of armed (and uniformed) Genoshan soldiers
before being overcome several pages later. Throughout this sequence,
several techniques are used to keep it all within comic code:
the bodies of their opponents block our view, debris does likewise,
so do their own arms and positions. The lack of clothing causes
not even a moment's hesitation in either of them. ("Uniforms?
We don't need no steenkin' uniforms!")
|
UXM 238
|
Maddie Pryor/Summers (they had been calling
her by her maiden name, even though she's still married to - but
deserted by - Cyclops/Scott Summers, probably to make us more
accepting of Jean Grey's return to Scott's life), now a prisoner
of the Genoshans, has escaped from her cell, inexplicably removing
the suit given to her by her captors, and is standing by the creche
("where the genegineer grows his babies") nude. The baby she is
holding blocks our view, as do shadows and carefully trimmed perspectives.
Although no reason is given for her stripping, her fragile mental
state is evidenced in the blankness of her eyes. (If you didn't
read the series back then, trust me, she'd been through an awful
lot. By this time she had already become the Goblin Queen, but
shreds of her former personality remained.)
|
UXM 239
|
Yep, Maddie gets a lot of skin time in this
series. After seducing Alex Summers (Havok), we see Maddie again
as a nude, moonlit outline at the window, the details hidden by
darkness.
|
UXM 240
|
Here we catch Psylocke posing nude for Peter
Rasputin (Colossus). Since Peter's interest is strictly artistic,
and since Betsy has also insisted on getting the completed painting,
this is not as naughty as you might think.
|
UXM 241
|
We now witness Maddie's birth (through the memories
of Sinister). Breaking free of her case, she is nude, yet fortunately
covered by a wisp of smoke and Sinister's cowl.
|
UXM 245
|
Alien invaders review their "Jean Bomb". According
to them (a wry commentary on the turns the series has taken by
this time), it's designed to "fatally disrupt any and all relationships",
and it looks like a nude Jean Grey in a bubbling glass chamber.
The bubbles, of course, are carefully placed.
|
UXM 253
|
This story begins with sihlouttes of a nude
Storm, who has been transformed into a child. Lightning flashes
through the rain around her; a man working to reinforce the levee
says "...ain't NEVER seen a STORM like this'n!" just before they
find her. (Aren't they clever? ;) The child-Sotrm is taken to
a hospital, in shock.
|
UXM 257
|
Psylocke/Betsy is taking a bath. This is not
that unusual, we often see the X-characters in bubble baths, but
quite modestly covered. This is different; not only is more skin
visible, she is also bathing in full view of Lord Jonin of the
Hand! She even climbs out of the bath to take a towel he hands
her. If not for wisps of steam, our view would be as good as his
seems to be.
|
UXM 259
|
A nude and human (not steel) Peter Rasputin
in a Soho loft confronts Genoshan magistrates who are threatening
a young couple. (One of the magistrates even comments "Look at
‘im, Chaz, he's STARKERS!") Nice muscles on this guy. Lucky for
him that the shadows fell where they did.
|
UXM 259
|
Guido (AKA Strong Guy) finds an injured Dazzler
covered by seaweed on the beach by Lila Cheney's house. Dazzler
is, presumably due to what she's been through, without clothing.
Position and distance disguise this.
|
UXM 267
|
Storm remembers being changed to a child - which,
for no reason I can tell, occurs while she is nude. Although details
are carefully shadowed or blocked, as usual, the peak of a breast
can be seen from the side. However, from the center down the breasts
are shadowed.
|
UXM 269
|
After an attack by Master Mold, Rogue appears
in her own room, nude. Smoke masks details. (She wonders to herself,
"Last ah remember, ah was in New York! Not t'
mention, fully clothed.")
|
UXM 273
|
Jean/Marvel Girl (or whoever she is at this
point - I keep losing track) taking a shower. Carefully placed
tendrils of steam. Several pages later, Jean's astral (mental)
self appears to be nude, as Professor Xavier's usually is.
|
UXM 275
|
Rogue and the X-Men rescue Magneto from Zaldane
and Brainchild. Magneto is being held nude (I don't know why,
but I'm certainly not arguing; perhaps clothes interfere with
the transfer of his energies to Zaldane, since while receiving
the transfer she is also nude), escapes nude, and kills Zaldane
(while admitting he can no longer guide the New Mutants) nude.
THEN he reconstructs his costume. Nice muscles on this dude!
|
UXM 275
|
Psylocke emerges from a bath and begins meditating,
nude. (We know she's not shy because of the costume she usually
almost wears, don't we?)
|
UXM 276
|
Jubilee is held prisoner in a nude techno-organic
form, but she's just a kid, so no breasts to hide, and her speech
balloon hides anything else. (Now that's a different approach.)
Deathbird changes her green alien buddy, Prime, into a nude Xavier
double, carefully shadowed.
|
UXM 277
|
Not liking having been duplicated, the real
Professor Xavier (nude and techno-organic) knocks the stuffin'
out of the fake Xavier.
|
UXM 288
|
A lovely blue nude of Warren / Archangel, first
in his room, then flying! Apparently, he was getting dressed when
he heard a phone message that caused him to get into some soul-searching,
and clothes aren't really that important if you can fly high enough
(as Storm knows).
|
UXM 300
|
Showing some nice, long scars from Wolverine
across his chest, Fabian Cortez is transported nude by Amelia
Voght. Again, wisps of smoke come in handy. He stays nude for
several pages, I assume just because no one brings him any clothes.
|
UXM 330
|
Psylocke is partially nude as the forces of
the Crimson Dawn hit her nearly-dead body. Bottom half covered
by a sheet, breast details covered by arm.
|
Xmen Giant Sized Annual #10
|
In this issue we catch Storm/Ororo rising in
the morning nude; her plants, ever helpful, block our view. Later,
Wolverine fighting nude; after awhile he gets a towel, but until
then he's only ‘protected' by positional and shadow coverages.
|
UXM Annual #11
|
Wolverine nude again, after being regenerated
from a single drop of his blood throught the power of a crystal
shard. Light bathes him and conceals him.
|
UXM Annual #15
|
Includes a neat short story featuring an internal
struggle of Logan's, which portrays him nude fighting himself
and then meditating nude. Yup, not a stitch of clothing in the
whole story. Those were the days.
|
X-Men 4
|
Omega Red, nude, back from the dead. (My only
complaint about the Marvel universe is the transience of death
for its characters. "I was dead, but I got better" is all too
easily overused. On the other hand, I'm glad Jean's back.)
|
X-Men 34
|
Here we have a nude, badly-decayed clone of
Sabretooth. Ick. Details blocked by pieces of equipment.
|
X-Men 36
|
Xmen are threatened by a nude Stephen Lang,
who is at this point part of the Phalanx. Carefully shadowed.
|
X-Men 76
|
Marrow is topless after undergoing a physical
exam by Dr. Cecelia Reyes. Her speech balloon (and then position)
block OUR view, but Canonball has to cover his eyes as Marrow
dares him to look. Marrow got ‘prettified' when she first joined
the X-Men (she was quite monstrous before), and of course in a
recent issue was prettified still more. I would guess that means
that a) she'll be around for awhile, and b) they intend for her
to have a romance with someone.
|
X-Men 84, also X-Men 88, X-Men 90
|
The Professor astral travelling nude again.
|
X-Men 87
|
Joseph, in battling Magneto's destruction of
the magnetosphere, is pictured as a huge nude figure enveloping
the earth - which is strategically placed. I liked Joseph; the
poor guy never really had a chance to enjoy life, and he took
a lot of crap he didn't deserve because most of the others assumed
he was really Magneto. Not to mention that he had Magneto's good
looks in a younger format.
|
New Mutants 46
|
Moira is seen in the shower first, then teleported
nekkid as a jaybird to Limbo by Illyana (Magik). Five panels later,
Magik conjures up some clothes, but until then Moira's body parts
are positioned carefully.
