The
Day The X-Files Died
A
long long time ago
I can still remember how the new eps used to make me smile
And I knew if he had a chance
That Chris could make non-Philes dance
And maybe they'd be happy for a while.
But
summer 2000 made me shiver
With every
promise he'd deliver
Bad news
on the third ep
I couldn't
take one more step
I can't
remember if I cried
When I
saw the nameplate shoved aside
But something
touched me deep inside
The day
the X-Files died
So
{Refrain}
Bye-bye
to the show called X-Files
With no
Mulder and no Scully
I just
can't be a Phile
And them
long time fans were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin'
this'll be the day the show died
This'll
be the day the show died
Once
the Files were all we loved
And we
had faith in Chris above
Cos the
eps told us so
Do you
believe in rock 'n roll
Did XF
save your mortal soul
Did the
season breaks seem so long, so slow
Well, some
think that she's in love with him
Cause we
saw them dancin', Scully spin
We all
kicked off our shoes
Man, we
dug the rhythm and moves
I was an
instant Phile on sight of Mulder
With a
love of David and a vc recorder
But I knew
the show lost its fire
The day
the X-Files died
I
started singin'
{Refrain}
Now
for ten eps we'll be on our own
With Scully
morphed and Mulder gone
But that's
not how it used to be
When the
jester wrote for the King and Queen
He gave
us Mulder and Scully dreams
And a love
that came from you and me
But, then
while the King was up in space
The jester
stole his work, his place
The courtroom
was adjourned
No verdict
was returned
And what
Vince G wrote, well many wept
Had Scully
sorry and Doggett fret
And we
sang dirges on the net
The day
the X-Files died
We were
singing
{Refrain}
FX
repeats in a summer bleakness
The EW
words hit us and left us speechless
Mulderist
hopes high and falling fast
EW landed
foul on the grass
The Philes
all tried for a forward pass
With the
jester lookin' backwards to the past
Now the
half-season air was sweet perfume
While the
Carter played a Mulder tune
We all
got up to dance
Oh, but
we never got the chance
Cause the
Philes tried to take the field
The Carter
band refused to yield
Do you
recall what was revealed
The day
the X-Files died
We started
singing
{Refrain}
Oh,
and there we were all in one place
A group
of Philes lost in space
Cos Chris
went back to start again
So come
on, Fox be nimble, Fox be quick
Fox Mulder
sat on a candlestick
'Cause
fire is Chris Carter's only friend
Oh, and
as I watched him on the stage
My hands
were clenched in fists of rage
No angel
born in hell
Could break
that Carter's spell
And as
the flames climbed high into the night
To light
the sacrifical rite
I saw Carter
laughing with delight
The day
the X-Files died
We
were singing
{Refrain}
I
met a Phile who sang the blues
And I asked
her for some happy news
But she
just smiled and turned away
I went
down to the video store
Where I'd
seen X tapes years before
But the
man there said the tapes just wouldn't play
And in
the streets the Mulderists screamed
The shippers
cried, and the slashers dreamed
But not
a word was spoken
The vcr's
all were broken
And three
fic writers whose words had power
Luvmulder,
Joyce and Lydia Bower
On the
XF grave they tossed a flower
The day
the X-Files died
And
they were singing
{Refrain}
Bye-bye
to the beloved X-Files
With no Mulder and no Scully
I just can't be a Phile
And them long time fans were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin' this'll be the day the show died
This'll be the day the show died
