Fresh Apple Bread Ingredients 2 cups finely chopped apples 1 cup oil 1-1/3 cup sugar 2 eggs 1-3/4 cups flour 2/3 teaspoon baking soda 1-1/3 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon vanilla 2/3 cup chopped pecans 2/3 teaspoon each: cinnamon, allspice, cloves 1/3 cup raisins In a large bowl, beat oil, eggs, sugar, and vanilla. Gradually add dry ingredients until well mixed. Fold in apples, raisins, and pecans. Pour into greased 5 x 9-inch bread pan and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until done (use toothpick test). |
Grandmother's Gingerbread Ingredients: 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup shortening 1 egg 1 cup molasses 2-1/2 cups sifted flour 1-1/2 teaspoons soda 1-1/2 teaspoons cinnamon 1 teaspoon ginger 1/2 teaspoon cloves 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup hot water 1 teaspoon lemon extract Cream shortening and sugar with beaten egg and molasses. Add dry ingredients which have been sifted together. Add hot water and lemon extract. Beat till smooth. Spread in greased 9 x 13 x 2 inch cake pan. Add topping of 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Bake at 40 to 45 in 350 degree oven. |
