INVASION
OF THE STICK PEOPLE!
Think
you need to be skinny to be popular? Beautiful? Sexy?
Lets ask those
SUPER MODELS over there... *DING! DING! DING!* Do we really care
what they have to say? NO! Sure,
they may have a cool job, strutting down the runways in cool places like
Paris..but in reality they ALL suffer from a serious disease. A disease
you can die from if you don't get help. 60-75% of teenage girls
suffer from anorexia or bulimia, 1/4 of which will die because they refuse
to recognize their problem before its to late. Thats approximatly 1,000
girls a year.
No body asked us to LOVE our body, but hey! It's ours right? You don't
have to love your hips or your stomach but you also don't have to starve
yourself to feel good.
Wanna know a secret? No matter how much you starve yourself, the more fat
and ugly you feel. Why? Simple, it's just not you. If your really unhappy
about your body work on those muscles. But Remember, start off slow, don't
try to push your body into it. You'll see more results if you pace yourself.
The healthiest goal is to have respect for your body. No matter the shape
or size. We're all unique, and beautiful.
Still not convinced?
What if
I told you the average fashion model is thinner than 98 % of the average
woman.
The average woman is 5'4, 140 pounds. The average model is 5'11
and about 115 pounds. *shireks* O MY GOSH! Are those her RIBS! Some one
call a Doctor, I think I see her DIGESTIVE system!
Most women gain weight because they have a slow metabolism, but not eating
on a regular basis with PROPER eating habits makes your metabolism even
S L O W E R. If you have or do any of the following you need to seek help,
not only from your family but professional as well. It's not that hard,
just talk to your family doctor. Someone you can talk to outside your family
to help you change your view on what you THINK your body looks like can really help.
Remember,
your UNIQUE and
BEAUTIFUL
just the way you are.

If you
know someone who has an eating disorder these are some things you can do
to help.
-
Tell them
your concerned about him/her. Let them know how you feel and that you'd
like to help.
-
Try not
to discuss weight, the number of calories being consumed or eating habits.
Try discussing their feelings and listen to them.
-
DO NOT
say things like, "Your too skinny." or "You've lost a lot of weight." They
will see these as compliments, and set their goals on becoming 'THINNER'.
-
Try to remember
that they do not feel as is they have achived anything besides losing weight.
Their only goal right now is to lose more weight.
-
Talk to
someone who can help. You can't make them eat, but you can let them know
you care.
