| Zerg
buildings can heal on their own. If you leave a damaged Zerg
building before it is destroyed, it will eventually return to full health.
Zerg do not need a barracks to train units. They have a Hatchery
which produces Larvae. The Larvae can morph into units. All
units are produced at the Hatchery. To produce units faster you must
build additional Hatcheries. Zerg buildings must be built on the
creep. Since Zerg buildings are alive, it must be morphed on the
creep which keeps it alive. The creep can grow and expand with the
help from Hatcheries and Creep Colonies. Unlike other species, once
a Drone morphs into a building, it cannot morph into other buildings.
Hatchery
The Hatchery is like the heart of any Zerg cluster. The Hatchery
produces Larvae which can morph into units.

Allows all Zerg ground units
except the Ultralisk to bury underground.
Lair
The is an upgraded Hatchery. It has more armor and hit points.
It also includes Overlord upgrades.

Sacs
Allows your Overlords to
transport units.
- Antennas
Increases sight range of your
Overlords.
- Pneumatized
Carapace
Increases Overlord speed.
Hive
This is the most upgraded (most evolved) form of the Hatchery.
The Hive has more armor and hit points than the Lair.
Extractor
Build this over a Vespene Geyser and it will package the gas allowing
your Drones to transport it back home.
Creep Colony
A Creep Colony grows and maintains the creep that your Zerg buildings
need to be built on. Use Creep Colonies to expand your base.
Spore Colony
One of the buildings a Creep Colony can morph into is the Spore
Colony. A Spore Colony will fire at air units and detect cloaked or
burrowed units within its range.
Sunken Colony
The other structure a Creep Colony can morph into is the Sunken
Colony. The Sunken Colonies defend the Zerg cluster from any aerial
assaults. It will fire at any enemy ground units within range.
Spawning Pool
Building this allows you to morph your Larvae into Zerglings.
The Spwaning Pool can also upgrade the Zergling speed and attack rate.

Evolution Chamber
This is where you can upgrade ground armor and weapons.

Upgrades the weapon for Drones,
Hydralisks, and Lurkers (Brood War).

Upgrades the ground armor for all

Hydralisk Den
Building this allows you to morph your Larvae into Hydralisks.
You can also upgrade your Hydralisk's speed and range here.

Increase Hydralisk's attack
range.
- Lurker Aspect (Brood
War)
Allows your Hydralisks to morph
into Lurkers.
Nydus Canal
The Canal allows underground transportation for Zerg units. Once
one Canal is built, you have to use that Canal to build another one at a
suitable location. Once those two are built, you can then travel
from one base to the other more quickly and efficiently.
Spire
Allows you to morph Larvae into air units. Air weapons and armor
can be upgraded here.

Mutalisks, Guardians, and Devourers (Brood War).

Upgrades the air armor for the
Mutalisks, Guardians, Devourers (Brood War), and Queens.
Greater Spire
The Greater Spire is an upgraded Spire. It also allows you to
morph Mutalisks into Guardians or Devourers.
Queen's Nest
Building this will allow you to morph into Queens. Abilities for
the Queen can also be upgraded here.

Broodlings
Kills a non-mechanical unit by
infesting it.
- Ensnare
The Queen can vomit on enemies to
slow them down.
- Gamete
Meiosis
Increases Queen's energy.
Ultralisk Cavern
Allows Larvae to morph into Ultralisks. If you have Brood War,
the Ultralisk's speed and armor can be upgraded here.
- Anabolic
Synthesis (Brood War)
Increases Ultralisk's speed.
- Chitinous
Plating (Brood War)
Increases the Ultralisk's armor
by 2.
Defiler Mound
Allows Larvae to morph into Defilers. Defiler abilities can be
upgraded here.
- Plage
Causes damage to anything trapped
within the cloud for a linited time.
- Comsume
Allows you to devour your own
units to recharge its energy quicker.
- Metasynaptic
Node
Increases Defiler's energy.
