I think I have an eyestrain. I went home from work early last night (at around eight) because I was really really tired but I slept really really late because I was reading J.D. Salinger's "The Catcher in the Rye" and I can't seem to put the damn book down. It took an ounce of me to stop reading and go to sleep. Now I'm having a slight headache and to think I have to work at nine later but what the heck.
I mentioned some entries ago that I'm writing a story I titled "Red Moon" but I still haven't gone past chapter three till now. I'm a real moody writer. I can't write well if I don't feel like it.
I've written two stories that I never also got to finish. The first one I titled "Yume", which I wrote around two years ago and had up to about sixteen to seventeen chapters. I wasn't able to finish it because the plot seemt too simple and I wasn't able to think of how to end it. Anyway, it's about a girl named Rei Yumeno who, one morning, never woke up from sleep. Not that she's dead, her mind was trapped in the world of dreams.
The second unfinished story I wrote was titled "The Head Collector" which I wrote about a year ago and had only three chapters done but I had the entire plot mapped out already though. It's about a phantom that haunts the living, "leaving them headless in the night". Pretty cool if you ask me.
I plan to finish "Red Moon" first, that is, if I get the proper mindset. Then I might finish "The Head Collector" and revise "Yume". =)
Today isn't as hectic as I thought it would be. My workmates and I have decided to go home from work early. It's not that we don't have anything to do anymore. We just planned to continue our work at home. I'm gonna continue my piece of work later. Besides, we've got a deadline to beat and that's this Monday.
Y'know, if Clow Cards are real, they'd be really really useful. They can serve a practical purpose. For instance, you can use the Jump card to cross the street when it's really busy or the Silence card to shut some people up. And then you can use the Sweet card for food-sweetening purposes (duh!), that way, you can save cash since you don't need to buy sugar anymore. I wonder, though, if diabetics can enjoy the Sweet card's benefits.
And next, you'd ask, "What if they fall into the wrong hands?". Hmm. . . bummer if librarians start to erase people's voices with the Voice card if they get too noisy. Or students can use the Mirror card to make a copy of themselves and let their copy attend classes while they stay at home or have fun somewhere else (which ain't really that bad). But apart from spiteful librarians and class-cutting students, think of all the destruction that can be unleashed especially with the elementals: Firey, Watery, Windy and Earthy. And what about the Void?! Tsk. . . tsk. . . tsk. However, there's one thing I can assure you though. . . my hands are never wrong. *grins evilly*
Ever wonder how brain cells store information? If computers store information in bits of 1's and 0's, what about the brain? Through chemical compounds? Electrical signals? There are a lot of things about the brain that still need to be understood. As of now, we can only speculate as to the answer of this question.
In an unrelated note, I really like Maaya Sakamoto. Her voice is nice and her songs are great. "Gravity" is the ending theme of the new anime Wolf's Rain. The song is in English and I think that Maaya's English has improved a lot. The song has nice lyrics too, gravitating (pardon the pun) towards the poetic.
What a hectic lifestyle I'm living right now. Nowadays, I sleep at around twelve to one, usually waking up at nine in the morning (at least I still get eight hours of sleep). I go to school, then have lunch at around eleven-thirty. I have a class from three to five and then I go to work, coming home at nine. Tiring isn't it? This is how everyday takes place, add a few unexpected circumstances here and there, some of them pleasant while some of them only make my schedule tighter.
But ever notice, sometimes, when we don't have anything to do, we feel bored and wish we were busy. We want to do something to keep us occupied or just to help pass time by. Ah, what ironic creatures we are. To think that when we're busy, we wish we have nothing to do.
But it's not that I'm so busy nowadays that living becomes synonymous to having a tight noose around your neck. I still get the time to draw, write stuff, update my site. . . in other words, have a break . Being busy is fun when you think about it, that is if you know how to manage your time. And besides as the cliche goes, "When the going gets tough, the tough gets going".
And as far as tough is concerned, I gotta go now. Still have to study for an exam tomorrow. Ja ne!
My friend and I happened to ponder on one of the universe's mysteries, the difference between a biscuit and a cracker. Weeks ago, we were eating biscuits and he asked what's the difference between crackers and biscuits. We'd usually just eat them right away without giving a thought on their distinctions.
I scanned the recesses of my memory, maybe I can recover old home economics stuff stacked in my mental archives. But I didn't. I told him maybe it's with the way they are made or something, although I don't exactly know how. Then again, I guess you'd know the difference when you eat one (or maybe when you see or touch one).
So I looked at the dictionary. Maybe it can shed some light on the matter. Unfortunately, it wasn't of any help. A biscuit is defined as a 'small soft raised bread'. 'Biscuit' is also what the British call cookies or crackers. The definition for cracker added more to our confusion. A cracker is 'a thin flat crisp biscuit'. Talk about deadlocked definitions! Will 'ol Webster make up his mind?
I asked another friend of mine. Perhaps she'd know the distinction. According to her, a cracker is a biscuit that 'craaaaacks' while a biscuit is one that doesn't. The evolution from crackers into biscuits (or maybe it's the other way around) makes for a 'confusing genealogy'.
Arthur C. Clarke would have been mystified as well. But my friend and I finally came to a conclusion: crackers crack, biscuits break and cookies crumble. Well, they're not really clear-cut definitions but still they, as my friend would say, "Makes sense."
But it doesn't really matter as long as you can eat them, right? And speaking of eating, I'd better go now. Me hungry.
I know, I know. . . this blog entry is late, waaaaay late. Imagine, the previous entry's dated January 19 and this one's dated April 19 (heck, that's three months already!!!! three months!!!). Ah, but I've got my usual reasons, er excuses (if you'd rather prefer it that way). Been busy in school that's why. Had three major projects to pass and add to that I got a job. But school's over for now. Actually, school's been over many weeks ago. I guess I was just being lazy, so sue me.
I like Evanescence's "Bring Me to Life". The song is really nice. It's got a dark, creepy feel and the lyrics, the melody and the vocals all combine to make it one power-charged piece. The style is kinda like Linkin Park's but the female vocals is something refreshing to hear.
The song would make a great anime opening theme. My friend told me that the first time he listened to it, he actually thought it was an anime opening song. Pardon us, the song is just way too cool. I can just imagine scenes to go along with it. It'd fit dark-themed anime like maybe Hellsing, Ayashi no Ceres or X but then again, I guess it would fit as any anime's opening theme as long as there are fight scenes in it.
I don't like the actual video for "Bring Me to Life". The pauses disrupt its flow. I think the video didn't give justice to the song. Oh well, I guess I'm stuck to imagining nice anime scenes for it. =)

My friend introduced me to The Sims and now, I think I'm kinda hooked. At first, I thought it'd be boring and all but when he demonstrated it to me, I changed my mind. It's fun building and designing a house, trying to earn money while climbing up the job ladder and interacting with people.
Here's a snapshot I took of me and my wife (in an Anna Kournikova skin. . . and no, I don't have a thing for dumb blonds. I married her because she had a lot of money):
I'm just amazed at how there a lot of people out there in the Net who take the time and trouble to create Sims resources like skins, objects, walls and floors. But thanks to them, you can personalize your stuff depending on your taste and not just limit yourself to what's provided in the game. Oh well, I think my hunger and bladder level is going down. . .
My first entry for 2003 comes a little too late. That's because I got very busy. Last week was quite hectic for me. However, things seem to be slowing down for now and I can take time to breathe.
I'm writing a story I titled "Red Moon". It's in an ancient fantasy setting and I'm going to post it when I'm done with the first five chapters. So far, I'm in the midst of writing chapter four. The story basically revolves around a prophecy, "When the moon hangs red and murderous in the night, know that it is a sign of death, darkness and destruction."
I've made a language which will be used in the story. I call it Amarati from the words "amara" which means "god" and "ti" which means "tongue". Thus, "Amarati" literally means "god-tongue". Amarati is the language of the gods (in my story) and it's not just any made-up language, mind you. It comes with grammar rules and it's own set of alphabet too. I've translated "Twinkle, twinkle little star. . ." in Amarati and here it is:
It's fun making up words and grammar rules although creating the whole Amarati vocabulary would be a tedious task. I got friends, however, who contribute in making up words so it's okay.
