Changing Places
PART 26

Thanks to Liz’s warning, Isabel was in full ice princess mode when she went to see Pierce. She finished her test and left shortly after. Ms. Pierce did not call either of them back into her office but they kept an eye out for her. Alex tried to get into her office to try and access her computer but when he got inside, he found nothing but an empty docking station where her computer would have been plugged in. As far as they could tell, she was who she said she was.

They kept to their cover and pretended to be normal teenagers. Max decided it was time for him and Liz to have an official date so after arranging with his dad to have the Saturday night off, he asked Liz out to dinner. She eagerly accepted and spent most of Saturday with Isabel standing in front of her closet trying to figure out what to wear. Now she just had to finish up her makeup and slip on her shoes.

Isabel had just finished using her powers to create the perfect color of lipstick for Liz’s outfit when the doorbell rung. Liz was about to jump up from her spot so she could finish dressing when Isabel pushed her back down. “He can wait for a few minutes. You can’t act so anxious Liz.”

“But I should leave Max downstairs with Daddy?” Liz asked.

Isabel contemplated her words for a minute before saying, “You’re right.”

(*(*(*(*(*(**)*)*)*)*)*)

A few minutes earlier

Max nervously ran Liz’s doorbell and waited. He wasn’t so much nervous to be going out with Liz, just wanted everything to go well. Liz had never been out on a date before and he wanted to make things perfect for her. If everything went like he planned, he was sure she’d have a good time.

Not a minute after he rang the bell, the front door opened and Max found himself face to face with Philip Evans. “Hello, I’m Max Parker, I’m here to pick up your daughter for our date.”

“Sure thing.” Philip said nodding to him in recognition. He pushed the door back to allow him to enter the house. “There’s no need to have you wait out here, come on in.”

Max made his way into the Evans house and followed him into the living room. It was there that he saw Liz and Isabel’s mom, he recognized her from seeing her around town. As they walked in he heard their dad explaining who he was to their mother, “This young man is here to take out Isabel.”

“No, sir.” Max said interrupting. “I’m here for Liz.”

He would have laughed at their expressions of shock if he hadn’t known that it wouldn’t make the best expression. Max knew that Isabel was usually the social butterfly between the two girls but he hadn’t expected them to be as surprised as they were. Diane was the first one to gain the ability to speak again. “I’ll go see if Liz is ready.”

Mrs. Evans retreated from the living room leaving Max and Mr. Evans to themselves. Being alone with Liz’s dad was slightly unnerving. His wife’s leaving seemed to snap him out of his haze and he said, “I must say that you taking Liz out on a date is very unexpected. Liz usually isn’t one to date much.”

“I’m aware of that.” Max stated then tried to think of something to say that wouldn’t make Mr. Evans think he was some typical teenage guy who was intent on molesting his daughter. “I consider myself lucky that she said yes when I asked if she wanted to go out. She’s a very special girl.”

“Yes. She is.” Philip said. Being a lawyer taught you a good deal about readying people and although he had only met Max a few minutes ago, he had a good impression of him. “I’m sharing something with you Max. While I have two daughters, Liz and I have always been the closest, just like Izzy and her mom are. Liz and I share a lot of the same traits and such. We are very subdued individuals. I think it’s because of these characteristics that Liz hasn’t dated a lot.”

“I don’t think I get your meaning, Sir.” Max said.

“What I’m saying is when Isabel goes out on a date, she’s a very outgoing person and doesn’t let things bother her much. But Liz holds things more dear and this might leave her open to get hurt. But you wouldn’t let that happen now would you Max?” Philip asked.

Max was very aware of the implied threat Mr. Evans was issuing. He wasn’t completely surprised at how protective the man was of his daughter, just the fact that he had been so open about it. Max could see why he was so good at his job, he was sure he made a very intimidating lawyer. He would not want to cross him, especially since he knew he would end up the one who would be worse for wear. “No sir. I would never intentionally do anything to hurt Liz.”

“Good I’m glad we understand each other.” Philip stated just as the two men heard feminine voices approaching. Within a minute, Mrs. Evans, Isabel, and Liz appeared at the doorway.

When he saw her, he felt his breath catch. Her hair was curled slightly and she wore more makeup then usual; she was dressed simply in a pair of black slacks and a V-neck burgundy top. She looked so beautiful. She smiled shyly at him before looking at her parents. “Did you meet everyone?”

“Actually we haven’t been formally introduced.” Her mom said speaking up.

“Max, this is my mother Diane; Mom this is Max.” She said introducing them. She saw her mom smiling at her happily before saying, “It’s a pleasure to meet you Max.”

“You too Mrs. Evans. I’ve heard a lot about the both of you from Liz and Isabel.” Max explained. It was true; Liz had talked about her parents with him.

Liz smiled at his politeness and said, “And now we should get going.”

“Yeah, we should.” Max agreed. The two then headed for the front door and after saying goodbye to her parents, they left for their date.

(*(*(*(*(*(**)*)*)*)*)*)

After her shift was over Maria changed clothes and headed for home. She got half way there when she realized she had left her house keys in her locker. After cursing in both English and Spanish, she turned around and headed back to work. She had only taken a few steps when she noticed something strange out of the corner of her eye. She kept walking but turned her head just slightly so she could get a good look. A dark colored car with tinted windows had made a U-turn when she had turned around and was now coming up slowly behind her.

She didn’t think of herself as a paranoid person but ever since she found out about the aliens and the possibility that the Sheriff and maybe some government agents were investigating them, she had definitely headed in that direction. Maria could feel her heart starting to beat so rapidly she was sure that the people in the car that was following her could hear it. She tried to reason with herself that maybe it was someone who was just lost but when it didn’t pass her like any normal car would, she knew she was in danger. She quickened her pace and so did the car, so she knew it was following her.

Questions started running through her mind as she hurried along. Who was following her? Why? She wasn’t an alien. Did they think she was because she hung out with them or they just wanted to know what she knew? She didn’t have the answers but she wasn’t going to let them grab her so she’d find out.

She tried to figure out what to do. She knew she had to get somewhere with lots of people, she didn’t know why but she had a feeling they wouldn’t grab her in public, if they would, why had they been following her? They could have easily taken her from the Crashdown when she was working.

THE CRASHDOWN! She could go there. They weren’t closed yet and there would be people there. She turned the corner onto Main Street. When she saw the blinking lights of the crashed UFO that was the sign for the Crashdown, she practically broke out into a run.

But before she got there, she passed Roswell Video. Through the window she saw someone who might be able to help, Michael Guerin. She wrenched open the door and flew inside. Michael jumped up in his surprise at the sudden racket and saw a panting Maria, “What’s up with you? What are you doing here?”

“Someone…someone.” Maria tried to get out but her mouth wouldn’t form words.

“Someone what?”

“Someone’s following me, and I’m scared.”

PART 27

For their date Max borrowed his mom’s car so that Liz would feel like she would have to drive. After helping her in they were off. Since Max knew she loved spicy food, he picked a little Mexican restaurant that his parents had taken him to. It was quiet and they could have a booth that would make them feel like they were the only ones in the whole restaurant.

Liz was surprised by the easiness that was between them, none of the first date nervousness she had heard about seemed to be creeping in on them. They were as comfortable with each other as they always were. They smiled and laughed as they waited for their order. Liz was having the time of her life, she was with Max and her first date was going great. “I think this is probably the best night I’ve ever had.”

“Really?” Max asked. Liz nodded. “I’m glad, I wanted this to be special for you.”

“It is.”

“Then all of my planning paid off.”

“Definitely better than what I would have done if I’d stayed at home. Dad was taking Mom and Isabel out for Pizza.” Liz commented.

“Well I’m glad I rate higher than pizza.” Max joked. They finished up their food shortly after and Max asked Liz what she wanted to do next giving her several choices. “We could go to a movie, go play miniature golf, anything you want.”

“How about a movie?” Liz answered. “We could go see the Mummy. It’s supposed to be decent.”

“Sounds good to me.” Max said as he stood up. He held out his hand for her to take, which she did and the two walked out of the restaurant. As they walked by they didn’t noticed the stares they got from people watching the young couple who was obviously in love.

(*(*(*(*(*(**)*)*)*)*)*)

“Someone’s following me, and I’m scared.”

It took Michael a minute to react to what Maria said but when he did, he went into full paranoia. He pulled her behind the counter before going to look out the store’s door. When he did, all he saw was the empty street, “Are you sure you’re not freaking out over nothing?”

“Do I look like I’m stupid?” Maria exclaimed. “I think I know when I’m being followed. Or is it everyday that a car drives ten miles down the street that is completely empty?”

“Okay, okay. Calm down.” Michael said as he tried to figure out what to do.

“Calm down?! That’s all you have to say?! I can’t believe I came here for help! I should have known you wouldn’t do anything.” Maria cried out.

“You haven’t been drug out of here yet have you? I’d say that I’ve at least done something. Or would you like to go back out there by yourself?” Michael snapped back at her. He had his back to her but when he turned to look at her and his annoyance ebbed away some. She was sitting on the edge of the chair he had just vacated and looked like she expected someone to bust in and haul her off. Her skin looked pale and he was sure that if she stopped wringing her hands, he’d see them shaking. He glanced back through the door to make sure that no one was coming or outside waiting, locked the door, then walked over to squat in front of her. Trying to sound less gruff then normal, he said. “Hey, I didn’t mean to snap at you. But I need you to relax so you can tell me what happened, I need to know who to look for.”

Maria pulled a small vial out of her jacket pocket. Michael watched as she inhaled something from it then started to talk. “I got off work and was heading for home. I was about half way there when I realized I forgot my keys and wouldn’t be able to get in. So I went back to get them. I didn’t realize anyone had been following me until I saw a car do a U-turn to follow me. I thought at first he was looking for a certain building but when he didn’t stop, I knew he was following me. That’s when I started to hurry and ended up here.”

“Okay,” Michael said trying to think of what to ask. “Did you see who was driving or what kind of car it was?”

“I didn’t see anyone inside, the windows were too dark. The car was a big one, like the size of a Cadillac and it was dark.” Maria explained.

“Then it’s not the Sheriff. Sounds more like a government car.” Michael said.

“The government? You mean FBI? Don’t you?” Maria asked.

“I don’t know but we need to call the others. To warn them in if nothing else.” Michael said. He grabbed the nearby phone and dialed the Evans’ house. It rang and rang with no answer. He finally gave up and disconnected. He quickly dialed in Liz’s cell phone number but got her voice mail, which meant it was turned off. “Damn it. Where are they? Don’t they know that there’s an emergency going on?”

“Max and Liz are probably still out on their date.” Maria commented. “But I don’t know where they were going for sure. Max was going to give her some options and let her pick.”

“How gentlemanly of him.” Michael grumbled.

“What am I going to do? I can’t spend the night here.” Maria said.

Michael ran his hand through his spiky hair trying to figure out what their next course of action should be. They were on their own for the time being and it probably was a good idea to get out of here. He grabbed up his keys and said, “Come on, we’ll go to the Crashdown then I’ll take you home.”

“You’re going to take me? On your bike?” Maria asked. She had seen Michael’s mode of transportation. And although it looked like it would fall apart, Liz told her it was secure.

“You know of another way besides walking?” Michael asked. Maria shook her head so he led her through the back door. He flipped off the lights as they went.

“Aren’t you going to get into trouble? For leaving early?” Maria asked.

“Probably, but that’s the least of our worries right now.” Michael said with a shrug of his shoulders. “I can get another job if I need to.”

Once they reached the alley Michael led her down it until they reached the back door of the Crashdown. As she walked up she saw Jose come out to throw away some trash. She used the opportunity to jump inside, grab her keys from her locker before meeting back up with Michael. She then gave him directions to her house. He quickly took her back to the back of the video store, over to his bike and handed her his helmet. “You better put this on, just in case.”

Maria was too shocked by what she thought was concern to say anything so she just put on the helmet and maneuvered her way onto the back of the bike. He started the engine and they were off. Maria had never been on any kind of motorcycle or bike but found she liked the experience. The rumble underneath her, the speed, the air rushing by, the feeling of herself pressed against Michael. Wait a minute where had that came from?

She wasn’t attracted to Michael, was she? Sure the kiss he had given her in the woods had been great, explosive was a better word but that had just been because of the adrenaline and fear she’d been feeling. Or maybe she was wrong and it had been something more. She pulled back as much as she could without falling off the bike to look over Michael. He had unruly hair and a bad attitude. He was the town rebel but she had seen a different side to him. A side that he only showed when he was around Liz or Isabel, a softer side.

Maria was sure if a psychologist ever got a hold of Michael, they’d have their work cut out for them. She could see that his tough exterior was just a shield, a wall to separate him from a world he didn’t think he belonged in. A world that would turn against him if they knew the truth about him and his family. Their time they spent locked up in the Crashdown storeroom had told her that. It was then that she realized there was more to Michael then his bad attitude. Maria was so lost in her thoughts that she didn’t even realize they had pulled up at her house until he had killed the engine. “You alright back there?”

“Yeah, I’m fine.” Maria answered. “Thanks for the ride.”

Michael noticed that the house looked dark and asked, “Are you alone here?”

“Yeah, my Mom had to go on a supply run again for her store.” Maria answered.

“I’ll walk you in, make sure no one is waiting inside for you.” Michael stated and he knocked the kickstand down. When they reached the door, Michael let her unlock the door but stood next to her in a way that would allow him to jump in front of her if he needed to. She pushed the door open and when nothing happened they went inside. They turned on lights as they went through the house and found it was empty.

“Well I got you home safely so I’ll get out of here. I’ll tell Liz and Isabel about it when I see them.” Michael informed her. He turned to leave when he heard a soft whisper, “Don’t go.”

“What?”

“I said don’t go.” Maria repeated as she looked at him. “What happened earlier...it really shook me and I don’t want to be alone. Please? Please stay here.”

Michael could see that she was still traumatized by what had happened so he nodded. He glanced at the couch then back at her, “Do you have an extra blanket?”

“Yeah.” Maria said before going into the hall and gathering some stuff for him. She gathered an extra blanket and pillow before heading back out to the living room. Michael had already kicked off his shoes and took off his shirt, leaving him in jeans and an undershirt. She stopped for a minute before being able to move again. “Here you go.”

Michael grunted what she thought was a thank you before she headed into her room. She changed out of her greasy smelling Crashdown uniform and into a tank top and sweats before crashing onto the bed.

(*(*(*(*(*(**)*)*)*)*)*)

An hour later despite how tired she was Maria couldn’t go to sleep; her mind was still in overdrive. She didn’t know if it was because of the events of the night or the houseguest she had on her couch. She had a feeling it was the latter. Deciding to see if she was the only one awake, she got up and headed for the living room. She crept as quietly as possible in case he was asleep and peered over the back of the couch, only to find it empty. She freaked for a minute thinking he had left or maybe the people who had followed her had taken him. But just then she felt a presence behind her and spun around, bumping into a hover Michael. “Please don’t sneak around like that, my heart can’t take any more scares.”

“Didn’t mean to scare you,” Michael muttered to her. “I couldn’t sleep so I was checking the windows and stuff. What are you doing up?”

“Couldn’t sleep either.” Maria answered. “Want some company?”

Michael shrugged, “Whatever.”

The two sat down on the Deluca couch but didn’t say anything. Maria finally broke the silence by asking something that had bugged her for a while. “Why did you kiss me that day in the woods? Was it really just to calm me down or was that just an excuse?”

“An excuse to kiss you?” Michael asked with a raised eyebrow.

“Forget I even mentioned it.” Maria said brushing it off suddenly feeling embarrassed. “I just thought…forget it.”

“You thought I did it because I wanted to?” Michael asked. Maria couldn’t help but nod. “You probably think I’m even crazier than you already did.”

“No, I don’t.” Michael said. He couldn’t say anymore, not that he didn’t want to, he just wasn’t the best with words. He had never been a big what to talk about what he was feeling or what was going on in his head. It was a side affect of growing up with Hank in an uncaring home even with Liz and Isabel being there for him. So instead of trying to tell her what he wanted to, he decided to express himself another way.

Maria was shocked at the sudden feeling of Michael’s lips on hers but got over it quickly. She wrapped her hands around his neck as he pulled her closer and onto his lap. As he did, he deepened the kiss by running his tongue along her bottom lip, causing her moaned slightly. Michael used it to his advantage to slip his tongue in and explore her mouth. Their tongues caressed one another, familiarizing themselves with each other’s taste. They continued at it for some time until finally breaking apart. Maria looked at Michael for a minute before asking. “Does this mean what I think it means?”

“I don’t know, I’m not all Mr. Romantic like Max or Mr. Sweet like Isabel said Alex is. All I can tell you is we can just go with it and see where it takes us.” Michael stated.

Maria seemed to think it over for a minute before her lips on his, as they began to kiss again she mumbled against his lips. “Works for me.”

PART 28

The next morning after leaving Maria’s house, Michael went straight to Liz’s room and snuck in. He told her about Maria’s ordeal and how he was sure it was a government car that had been following her. Between that and Ms. Pierce’s questions the group became completely paranoid. They stayed in-groups of at least two as much as possible and no one was supposed to walk alone. Liz felt guilty for bringing the humans into everything, since they were wanted for what they knew and were in almost as much danger as the aliens were. For added protection, Max arranged with his father to have Michael hired on as a cook for the Crashdown. It was an improvement for Michael; he was paid more and got the added bonus of free food.

Liz and Isabel were surprised that Michael didn’t suggest that they should leave Roswell. Those were usually the first words out of his mouth whenever they thought things were getting hot for them. But once Liz saw Maria leaving Michael’s apartment, the two girls figured out why.

The six of them did their best to remain calm and keep their cover, not drawing attention to themselves. They felt the pressure of being constantly watched by numerous people, the Sheriff, Tess, Ms. Pierce, not to mention any other people who they might not have become aware of yet. Then to their surprise, Ms. Pierce disappeared again. They hadn’t spotted her in over a week so Isabel casually asked while working in the office and found out that her job had been completed so her position was no longer needed. She had simply finished her work and left, nothing unusual but Liz couldn’t forget the short talk the two had had and felt there was still more to her than appeared.

Despite the added paranoia things between the couples continued to progress. But out of all of them, Max and Liz were the most sickening in their affection and flirting. When they were around one of the others was usually gagging. Liz spent even more time at the Crashdown so that she would see Max as much as possible.

All evening, Liz had felt like she was going to crawl out of her skin if she didn’t see Max soon. She finally was able to get away from her house and she headed to the Crashdown. Liz pushed through the café and saw that it was virtually empty. There was one guy in booth, and Maria. She glanced towards her blonde friend who pointed to the back and confirmed that Max was in the back. She knew that it was Michael’s night off so Max would probably be alone. She smiled in thanks and pushed through the swinging doors and into the kitchen.

She stood in the doorway for a moment and just watched Max. He was busy cleaning and putting things away so he didn’t notice her. Her eyes were drawn to the way he moved. Even with his gray Crashdown T-shirt she could see the muscles of his back as well as his well-formed arms move and stretch with a cat like grace. As he reached for a tall shelf her attention was pulled down to his butt. Max had a great body and she wasn’t the only one who thought so. She had often heard girls commenting at school and at the café about Max’s impressive physique. She probably would have watched him longer but he noticed her presence then. “Hey. What are you doin' here, Liz?”

“Is that the greeting I get?” Liz teased.

“Sorry, I’m just surprised to see you. You told me earlier that you wouldn’t be able to get away tonight.” Max explained hurriedly not wanting her to think he didn’t want her around.

“Well I told my Dad that I had an incurable craving that only a trip to the Crashdown would cure.” Liz said slyly.

Max couldn’t help but notice that the huskiness in Liz’s voice. He watched as her small pink tongue flicked out and ran over her lips. When she did that, he could have sworn that the temperature in the room raised ten degrees. The look she gave him didn’t help either; she looked like he was going to be her next meal. He felt the normal amount of desire he felt for Liz quadruple in size. She moved closer to him then so that she was right in front of him, leaning on the prep table. “Well the fryer and the grill are both cold but I’m sure we could find something for you.”

“That was just an excuse, I’m not really hungry.” Liz informed him. She leaned in further, “At least not for food. Do you have anything that might satisfy my appetite?”

Liz could feel her heart beating so furiously, she thought she might die from the waiting of him to make a move. Time seemed to stand still as Max looked at her lips. Then he looked back up, and Liz’s breath caught in her chest. His eyes had darkened to a deeper shade of amber. She felt all her senses jump alive under his intense gaze.

She opened her mouth to say something when Max’s lips crushed against hers instead. Her words were lost in a choked gasp when she felt an unbelievable fire pour though her as his tongue thrust past her parted lips. Max let out a low groan, and Liz felt it down to her very soul. She wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him even closer to her.

His hands ran down her body setting trails of fire as they went until he reached her thighs. He grabbed them roughly and yanked her up, setting her on the surface of the prep table. Max tilted her head up more as he moved to stand between her legs. While he did this, Liz struggled to maintain control of herself. They had kissed many times before but it had felt nothing like this. This was totally overpowering. It blocked out all sense of reason. Time lost all meaning; the kiss became more intense and desperate. Liz’s whole being became focused on one goal, getting closer to Max. It was pure instinct that caused her to arch her hips against him, bringing their lower bodies into sharp contact. The gasp was simultaneous between them. The kiss ended abruptly. Liz’s eyes opened wide when she felt his reaction to her.

Liz wasn’t surprised by what his body was doing; that was a normal male reaction, and Liz wasn’t totally naive. The feeling of him pressed so intimately against her had sent shock waves of pleasure though her. Liz, being the curious person that she was, moved her hips once more and the sensation intensified. It was almost painful, her need for him, the ache he was creating. Her head fell back with a soft moan, and Max’s hands slid to her waist stilling her movements.

With a pained moan Max tried to slow them down but Liz would have no such thing. Her hands flew into his hair as she brought his face closer to hers and captured his lips in a bruising kiss. As their tongues mated together, hard driving need and desire. Max’s large hands wrapped around her waist again.

Then, in a flash their pleasures seemed to blend together and Max felt emotions that he knew were not his own. It startled him and he was about to break off the kiss when an image popped into his brain.

**Flash**
He seemed to be flying through space rapidly, in front of him was a planet, but the planet didn’t look like Earth.
**Flash**

The flash ended when their haze was interrupted. “Oh My God!”

The two broke apart at the sound of Maria shriek. Maria was staring at them open mouthed, obviously not expecting to have walked in on the two of them in their very heated make out session. It’s not like it was a normal thing in the back of the café. “I just wanted to tell you that the last customer left and I locked the doors. I thought you might help out front since you would be done cleaning back here. I guess you were busy and didn’t get done.”

“Maria, you’re rambling again.” Max stated. He did his best to shield the two of them from Maria’s eyes. “Can you give us a minute?”

“Will you behave?” Maria asked unable to not tease them.

“Go!” Max hissed. Maria knew he was serious and scurried out of the kitchen. Once she was gone, he turned back to look at Liz. “Sorry.”

“It’s okay, you didn’t know she was going to walk in.” Liz said as she ran her hands over them, fixing their disheveled appearance with her powers.

“That’s not what I meant.” Max stated. “I meant for what happened. I don’t know what came over me, I didn’t mean to loose control like that.”

“Max, it’s okay. I did too. All night all I could think about was seeing you then when I got here, I just needed to touch you, to kiss you. That’s why I was being so flirtatious when I got here.” Liz explained.

“Liz, at the end, I saw something.” Max told her trying to figure out the best way to explain. “It was like the images I got when you connected with me after the shooting.”

Liz’s eyes grew wide, “What did you see?”

“It was like I was flying through space. I saw a planet but it didn’t look like the pictures from space of Earth I’ve seen. What’s going on?”

“I don’t know.” Liz answered. “But we’re find out.”

PART 29

After their talk in the kitchen, Max and Liz went out into the dining area where Maria was cleaning up. They had decided to keep what had happened and their conversation to themselves for the moment so neither said anything to her. Liz just mumbled that she needed to get home and left. Max was left with Maria’s questions, which he ignored.

When Liz arrived home, she found Isabel and Michael watching TV and joined them. As she sat there with them, she still thought about telling them about what had happened in the café, how she had felt something ‘alien’ happen when she had gone there. But decided to honor what her and Max had decided on and not tell them yet.

The next day at school Max was walking down the hallway when he felt a small hand grab his arm and tug him into the nearby eraser room. He heard the door shut and the lock click but didn’t see it, his eyes had not yet adjusted to the low light. Then suddenly he felt a pair of lips smash into his and felt himself being pushed back against the wall. He instantly recognized the lips by their feel and taste, Liz.

Liz leaned forward to get closer to him, sinking her fingers into his thick hair. Her tongue met his, her breasts crushed against his chest, and she like she wouldn’t be happy until every part of them was as close a possible to each other. She had felt his shock when she first kissed him but he had quickly melted against her. Flashes of his childhood darted past her eyes.

**Flash**
Eight-year-old Max trying to help his father with the café only to drop a thing of mustard all over himself.
**Flash**

But as Liz was seeing Max’s childhood, he too was receiving more flashes.

**Flash**
He saw a huge cluster of stars surrounding a larger star that was had a red tint to it. Hundreds of stars as well as at least five planets surrounded the large red star. He saw the planet from before but at a greater distance from his position then before.
**Flash**

Max pulled away from Liz’s kiss and looked into her eyes as he tried to catch his breath. She too was breathless but managed to huff out a question, “What’s wrong?”

“I got another flash.”

“Well, let’s see if we can generate some more.” Liz said as she tried to pull him to her again. But he held her back. “Liz, we can’t do this.”

“Why not?” Liz asked.

“Because if we keep going at this pace, something more than kissing is going to happen in this eraser room. And I know that you don’t want that.” Max explained.

Max’s words hit her like a pail of ice water. All her desire and lust that was coursing through extinguished and she was able to see reason. “Max, I don’t know what is going on with me. It’s like all the need I usually have to see you and be near you is amplified some how. And all I can think of is…being with you.”

“Has anything like this happened before?” Max asked.

“No, never.” Liz shook her head. “I think I should tell Michael and Isabel. They need to be warned. Michael’s not a big one for self control.”

“You think it’s something alien?”

“Isn’t everything weird that happens in our group?” Liz asked. “Maybe it has something to do with our form of puberty. I just don’t know.”

Max could see how concerned she was over what was happening so he decided not to tell her yet about the flash he received. He would wait until he had more information. He kissed her lightly on the forehead before leading her out of the eraser room.

Max and Liz made sure that they stayed in public places over the following classes so that they didn’t have another uncontrollable episode like that morning. They told the others that they needed to have a meeting in one of the empty classrooms during lunch but didn’t tell them why. They figured out later that that was not the best of ideas.

(*(*(*(*(*(**)*)*)*)*)*)

Alex sighed into Isabel’s mouth and she deepened their kiss. They had been the first to arrive for the meeting and were taking advantage of being alone. Isabel had been the one to instigate the kiss but he hadn’t even thought about fighting her, he wasn’t insane after all.

Alex knew the others were going to be there soon and tore his mouth away from Isabel. As he looked at her he saw that her eyes were misted over and there was a look of pure bliss on her face. His hand came up to cup her face, his thumb moved gently back and forth over her cheek, and she smiled a wicked smile at him.

She leaned forward and placed a kiss on his chest through his shirt, she began to trail kisses up his chest. Enjoying the taste of him when she found the bare flesh of his neck. She moved up his throat, her tongue occasionally snaking out, getting a wonderful taste of his flesh. She moved over his chin, enjoying the feel of his freshly shaved skin on her lips, finally she found his lips again, and kissed him with all of her passion.

The more he was around her, the more he felt like he couldn’t resist her. Not that he had ever had much resistance when it came to Isabel Evans. The mere thought of her sometimes made him need to take a cold shower. But now, he felt like he could take her right there on one of the desks. Thankfully it was then that they were interrupted.

Max, Michael, Liz, and Maria all arrived for their meeting at the same time and entered the room only to find Alex and Isabel appearing to try and devour the other. Anger and protectiveness flashed over Michael’s face as he grabbed Alex’s shoulder and pried the two apart. “What the hell do you two think you are doing?”

Liz jumped in between Michael and the trapped couple to keep them apart. “Michael, stop it. This is exactly why I called this meeting.”

“To talk about Alex and Isabel’s sex life?” Maria asked, which earned her a glare from everyone but Max.

“No, there’s something going on with us who are ‘not of this Earth’. Something hormonal it seems.” Liz explained. She looked at her sister and said, “Not that I really fond of asking this but when you and Alex were just kissing, did you feel like it was out of your control? Like you just had to be with him?”

“Yes.” Isabel answered. “It’s like a craving.”

“I do not want to hear this.” Michael grumbled.

“Shut up Michael.” Liz ordered. “I don’t know if this is what is going on but it seems like this is a sign that our…sex drives are maturing. And somehow it’s affecting our partners, just not quite as strongly. Have you noticed anything like that within the last few days Michael?”

“No, nothing.” Michael answered. “Of course Maria and I didn’t really seen each other yesterday. She had to work last night and I didn’t.”

“Or maybe it affects females more than males.” Isabel stated. “So far it seems Michael and Maria are unaffected.”

“So what are we going to do about this?” Alex asked. “Are we supposed to stay away from each other forever?”

“I doubt it will be forever. Maybe just a few days or weeks.” Liz said. “I really have no idea.”

“And we have no one to ask.” Michael muttered.

“Until we either figure out how to stop it, or it stops on it’s own, don’t give in to temptation.” Liz instructed Isabel as well as Alex and Max. “And try not to be alone with the other.”

“What about tonight?” Max asked. “You and I are studying at my house for that test in Bio.”

“We’ll just have to make sure we stay on our best behavior.” Liz said shrugging.
