Chapter 4 –
Mortal Kombat Begins
As the trio gets finished with their
feeding, they walk out of the room through the vault doors and head down a
corridor that Shang and Raiden had the tense conversation earlier. Sonya keeps
an eye peeled for any signs of Kano as if to see a red glare from his murderous
glowing eye. Cage wonders around behind Liu Kang, who seems to be unafraid of
anything but deep within he is fighting that his destiny is pointing him into a
life that he doesn’t want and he needs to understand his fate chose his actions.
Kang will never find out if he never deals with his life.
Cage on the other hand also has the problem
of needing to perform his abilities to skeptics and unbelievers. His way of
doing so is in attempt to show that he is utterly supreme but someday he will
have to perform to someone that will be superior to him and then be killed
because of his foolishness. Sonya also has a problem as well. Just because she
doesn’t seem to have one, everyone has one of those deep thought battles with
our mentality. She needs to learn to way of asking for help and need to stop
taking everything so seriously. She’s almost been killed numerous of times by
her non-helping attitude and thinks that she can take on anything and/or
anyone.
Meanwhile, as the trio walk to their
sanctuaries, a red shimmering light appears out of the corner and walks forward
but out of view of anyone.
“Hmmm, now, why is she here?” Kano wonders,
“No doubt that she’s been following me. Maybe this time, I’ll be able to kill
her finally like I did her ole partner.”
Kano chuckled as he saw light saw out of the
room the trio went into. Indeed it was Sonya. She somehow felt Kano’s presence
and checked the hallway for him but she found nothing as he escaped out of
sight.

The next day, Shang Tsung announced that a
bulletin board has been sat up to watch the upcoming events on who’s fighting
who. They all saw the name ‘Goro’ under a name that had to fight one guy and no
one knew who he was.
By midday, the first battle commenced. It
was nothing of real importance but Shang did commentary the fight and was
basically the judge of the match. At the end, the fighter hit a death blow to
the cranium of the opponent and killed him instantly. Shang awarded the match to
the winner. The dead body was thrown onto a flatbed boat but with a type of a
warehouse inside. The next fight was still of no importance but Kang and Cage
noticed that Sonya had ran away after something. They followed her and ended up
at a cave.
They entered it and walked inside and found
a portal of some sort but couldn’t activate it. There a woman appeared in the
distance. Kang saw her and quickly walked towards her. She seemed to have
disappeared as they enter an inner room with dim light. Sonya backs against the
wall and finds that it’s covered with old webbings from spiders. She gives a
quick ‘Yuck’ and Kang is attacked from behind.
Kang is held in a hammerlock type position
by a woman. Cage tries to pull her off but she kicks him in his face and Cage
falls o his back. Sonya does nothing because the woman told her not to. She
releases Kang who turns around very quickly.
“Who are you?” Kang asked
“I don’t think you’re in enough position to
ask anyone else who they are. I think the question is, who are you?” The woman
says.
“I’m sick of people saying that we have
problem. In my opinion, I think they have the problem of not knowing anything.”
Cage exclaimed as he got up off the floor.
“Forgive my intrusion but I am known as
Kitana, heir to the throne of Edenia. I’ve come here to warn anyone of the
threat of Shang Tsung.” Kitana said with reason.
“What threat? Kano?” Sonya answered very
quickly.
“I’m not sure who Kano is, but Shang Tsung
has the power to fight anyone of his choosing but if he wins, the Earth will be
legally taken over and transferred into another world of living chaos.” Kitana
said.
“Well, Lord Raiden told me that Shang wants
to fight me.” Kang answered.
“I have come here to have you succeed in
fighting your deep thoughts.” Kitana added
“Also, another thing about the tournament,
Shang Tsung has powers as well, although, I’ve never seen him use it, watch out
for whatever tricks he has. For now, I must go. Liu, I will see you later.”
Kitana hurried out of there and disappeared.
Just then, a swarm of Shang Tsung’s minions
rushed into the room and started attacking the trio but before they could do a
first strike, a rumble of thunder and lightning struck the nearest minions and
disintegrated them.
“Now I know Shang is up to something. Just
hearing what Princess Kitana said and now this… I will get to the bottom of
this.” Raiden said as he appeared.
The swarm backed off and looked at Raiden.
“If any of you touched any of these three,
so much as if they feel your breath of hear you speak, I’ll cause so much pain
they you’ll wish that I’d killed you.” Raiden said to the minions who left in a
big hurry.
“Raiden, are you in this tournament?” Kang
asked.
“Yes, I am in this tournament but as a
spectator. You see, Shang wants me to witness the defeat of the entire planet
right when it happens. I will not see it happen as long as I’m here.” Raiden
replied with a little stiffness.
“I’m going to find Kitana.” Kang said as he
went off in the direction that she went.
“Johnny Cage, you have a battle match soon.
I suggest you get to it or your position will be forfeited.” Raiden said.
“Oh shit, your right.” Cage headed to the
nearest exit and went to find the battlegrounds.
He got there just in time and his fight was
just about to come to a draw but Shang commenced the fight and Cage and his
opponent went at it.
