Chapter 3 –
Calm before the storm
As the three sit at
the table waiting for new instructions, they didn’t know what was about to
happen. A huge vault door opened and Shang Tsung came out. Kang’s face turned a
bright red but maintained his composure. The two ninjas were also with him as
well.
“Welcome to my
island!” Shang Tsung exclaimed. “You now have a full day to prepare yourselves
for tomorrow, but I’m am a generous man so I will let some people who can’t wait
till tomorrow to step up to start off this momentous occasion.”
Shang Tsung looks
around and he sees about three guys will are raising their hands high as they
can reach. He picks on the smallest guy. The guy comes up and he tells the blue
ninja to fight him.
“This is the Lin Kuei
warrior, Sub-Zero. Defeat him and I shall grant you anything you want.” Shang
Tsung said confidently.
The two started the
fight but as the little guy jumped at Sub-Zero, he throw out an ice attack and
froze the guy. The guy hit the ground and shattered into pieces.
“Let this be a heads
up to all. I play this for real. Anyone who doesn’t want this should leave the
island but if you do, you forfeit your position.” Shang Tsung added.
Cage and Sonya’s jaw
dropped as they see the Sub-Zero thing and Liu is just staring down Shang Tsung
with hatred. As Shang walks through the vault door and shuts it, Raiden appears
and startles the sorcerer.
“Nice show, sorcerer.
I might just add that these two ninjas have thoughts of their own.” Raiden said.
“These ninjas are my
bodyguards. They swore their protection and loyalty to me.” Shang Tsung huffed
back.
“Yes, this is true.
Let me ask you something that is off that topic. Why have you invited me
personally?” Raiden asked.
“Oh, of course, the
reason you’re here. Its simply the fact that I want a Earth god to witness my
triumph in this result of this tournament.” Shang Tsung said with a little
enthusiasm.
“I don’t think so. Its
not going to be that easy. I have a chance on three warriors that are present in
this tournament that you might be particularly afraid of.” Raiden boasted.
“I’ve seen everyone
out there and they don’t stand a chance.” Shang Tsung replied in an angry voice.
“Remember that you
killed and stole the soul of a young warrior at the Shaolin Temple, well, his
brother is looking for revenge.” Raiden said with a glistened snicker.
“Oh, the little Kang.
He’s brother is Liu Kang I believe. He’s no match for me since he fights within
his own self.” Shang Tsung replied back.
“Yes, but what if he
overcomes the problem?” Raiden asked
“HA! I’d die laughing
if he did. Plus, I have plans to keep it the way it is. Especially with that
Sonya, You see, she came because I have something she wants and will do anything
to get it.” Shang Tsung yet again said in confidence.
“Don’t go easy on the
mortals. Remember they change in a blink of an eye.” Raiden said is a tone.
“So do Elder Gods.”
Shang Tsung said to anger Raiden.
“I’ll keep my eye on
you. I believe you have some tricks up your sleeve.” Raiden said as he
teleported away.
“Yes, Mortal God, I
do… yes, I do.” Shang Tsung said as he continued to walk down a corridor.
Shang Tsung walks with
his minions out of sight and the three still at the table are being fed like
it’s their last supper.
“Man, I have more than
this at dinner at my house.” Cage said as he took a big bite of a chicken leg.
“I shouldn’t even be
right here. I am on the clock and I want to look for Kano.” Sonya added.
“You can’t leave off
this island so right now your considered missing by your job.” Kang butted in.
“Says who? I’ll leave
when I want and I’m sure as hell didn’t join any fight club.” Sonya said
angrily.
“Suit yourself.” Kang
said.
Kang went over and
finished his soup. He couldn’t help noticed that Cage was staring at him as he
was eating.
“What do you want?”
Kang said a little bothered.
“Besides coming here
by… a God… why did you come here?” Cage questioned.
“Well, Shang Tsung
killed my brother and he’s hosting a tournament that will decide that if Earth
will be taken over or not.” Kang answered right back.
Cage looked at him in
a stupid way and went along with it.
“What have I been
missing since making movies… and such. What else can my brain not take?” Cage
sarcastically asked.
“I take it that you
don’t believe me. Well, as I told her, Suit yourself. You’ll find out in the
long run.” Kang answered back
A rumble of thunder
sounded and Raiden walked up behind Kang and whispered something in his ear.
Kang got wide eyed and starting talking to Raiden. Cage watched this.
“He’s really expecting
me?” Kang said in excitement.
“Yes, he is but you
need to face your problems. Soon you’ll find out what it is.” Raiden said.
“Uh, excuse me… are
you a god?” Cage said very idiotic.
“You may all me
whatever you wish but not human.” Raiden said as lightning flowed in his eyes.
Cage jumped back and
looked back at Kang as to say that he was telling the truth.
“Oh, Johnny Cage, you
also have a similar problem but as Kang find his, find yours too.” Raiden said
as he walked off.
“But I don’t have any
problems.” Cage said but Raiden already vanished.
“Don’t ever correct
Lord Raiden. He’s always right.” Kang said.
Sonya came back and
said that she couldn’t leave because all the boats are missing. She admits that
Kang was correct but still said that she’s not in the fight club.
