Although cockfighting was legal in certain
parts of the United States some years ago, today it
is illegal in all fifty states and in some areas it
is considered a misdemeanor while in others it is a
felony.
All information on this site that pertains to cockfighting
reflects strictly the history of the fowls we keep and
our own observations of the activity in Thailand and
Laos. We provide such information on our site simply
out of the belief that in order to fully understand
and appreciate this breed, it is necessary to review
its origin and purpose in the context of its native
land and those who first bred it; and within such contexts,
cockfighting held an integral and unavoidable part and
thus must be mentioned.
Any and all birds offered for sale are meant for the
enjoyment of the buyer/hobbyist and for exhibition at
poultry shows. The thai game fowl breed was bred in
Thailand as much for its beauty and elegance as for
its fighting prowess, and as a result in Thailand this
breed competes as much in poultry shows as it does in
cockfighting. It is this former aspect of the breed
that we encourage. |
