Tha Music Zone
Tha true definition of hip-hop
Back in the days of high school, I was always facinated by the power
of rap music and it bass booming beats. Songs such as Bell Biv Devoe's
"Poison" which combined R&B and rap, and JJ Fad's catchy "Supersonic"
were some of the early tunes on the airwaves.
During those days, hip-hop
was in its infancy but a new world order was soon coming into existence..
Gansta Rap. NWA was the leading pioneer and would showcase some of the
best rap stars of the future. ICE CUBE, Dr. Dre, and Eazy E, would branch
off on their own and establish themselves as the heavy hitters of the
Gansta Rap world. Out of those three, ICE CUBE has remained the most
constant and beloved rapper of them all. His booming and menancing voice
envelops every rap lyric and commands your attention.
Most people think that the hip-hop generation just originated during the
nineties, but in fact it's been around for awhile. It was just hiding in
the background, blasting away in peoples garages... the underground hip-hop
scene was in full effect. In fact that's how hip-hop/rap originated. People
just started up in their garages, trying to make beats and writing their
own lyrics. Before they were even famous, CUBE and Tupac were rhyming their
styles on the streets and playing their shit to whoever wanted to stop and
listen. Today that trend continues to grow as more and more hip-hop heads
try to rap about "tha real", and want to get a positive message across. So
next time you here some dope cuts on tha radio, jus remember that somewhere
out there some teenage homeboy is rappin' in his room with a stereo microphone
and could someday become as legendary as the great one himself ICE CUBE.
Tha Man himself...
Okay, here's a little section on the LAA rap crew I was formerly in... I say
formerly because it pretty much broke up after college when we were too busy
to get together and work on songs. So now I'm just writing my own lyrics and
making up some songs when I feel some inspiration. But if you want to know
what we were formerly about, feel free to click on the link above. BE WARNED,
it's pretty ghetto... so if you're afraid of wannabee rap stars DO NOT ENTER.
If you look at the pics I kinda look like one of those punk ass kids that tries
to look like a banger... ha ha.. I guess I matured since then because I don't
wear a bandana anymore. At least I think I matured... man, I must be getting
old. =)
Okay, the link above hasn't been updated in awhile. It's basically a review of
some of the albums that I have in my collection. However, the albums are all
pretty old... they came out 2 or 3 years ago. I don't have the time to review
most of the new stuff because I just have way too many albums. The birth of
mp3s and CD burners has basically increased my album collection to 1000...
I don't think I have enough space on my account to review all of them.
So to compromise, I'm just gonna list a few albums I've downloaded recently and
rate them.
