1. There 's hope for beloved   Ayuthya
so long as men are   in respect
of old precepts,  far reaching
into the soul, in effect,  of immortal siam.

2. Fathoms deep though the seas   may be,
measurable are the seas   in depth.
Scaled can mountains be   in height.
Immeasurable is the death,  this heart of man.

3. Born men are we all   and one,
brown, black by the sun   cultured.
Knowledge can be won   alike.
Only the heart differs   from man to man.

4. So little yet so much   one knows,
like a frog which grows    in a puddle,
knowing not oceans so   ever vast,
becomes befuddled   by its small world.

5. Mountains bear on earth   and seas.
Even so, they 're free   of weight.
Heavy evil be   Earth's load.
Hell alone rebates   such load of sins.

6. All sentient beings pass   away.
What they've done do stay   hereafter.
Like shadows, so do they   follow
good, evil deeds forever   till time does end.

7. Millions though the stars   combine,
never can they outshine   the moon.
Millions can one find   small men on earth.
Can one just so soon   discover a sage?.

8. Mountains give only   bare stones.
Rarely one finds diamonds   of worth.
Midst millions scarcely none   is sage.
Truly, there's a dearth   of the wise among men.

9. Hot chilies generate heat   and health.
Thorns sharpen themselves,  indeed.
Flowers do flowers help  in fragrance.
Wise men do not need   wisdomfrom fools.

10. Wise men bite not back   a dog,
nor swear even pox   on it.
Fools' blames do but fog   judgement.
Keep faith with thy wit,  and let fools be.

11. Naga surpasses in   venom.
Passing, he seldom   ever strikes.
Scuttling much in pomp,   scorpion.
Tail higher in his pride   than poison has he.

12.Penniless live on   salt preferably
than to seek charity   from friends.
A tiger, though hungry,   will starve
rather than take of fence  of being fed by hand.

13. Robbed of wealth, your pride   maintain.
Robbed of pride, do gain   things wise.
Robbed of wisdom, a gain,   to faith.
Robbed even of life,   in faith ye be.

14. In a neighbour's house   to dine.
Let his wishes be thine   foremost.
Pupils must apply   orders.
Back home, your own host,  do as you will.

15. Test a servnt, in pressing   service.
Test a friend remiss,   by need.
Test a wife, in extremis   near death.
In structive are the se   revealing testimonies.

16. Tell fire not to smoke,   do try!
Tell the sun not to shine,   try it?
Tell age, don't decline   to death!
All such accomplished,  can you end slander.

17. Though divided by sky   and sea,
love brings thy lover to thee   forever.
Divided would ye be   in hatred,
Under a sky cleft asunder,
though heaven be one.

18. Oh, pain! This mundane sad love
never moves its way uprise.
Like water downhill, 't will flow by,
why should love come cack again?

19. Though the earth may end and the sea,
eternally go on love and life.

20. My lord, even my life   my sire ,
if i were to die,   it is fate.
For king, i desire   my life to give.
Better than this death,   what death can be?

21. Should Siam live on   so long
we remain as long   in life.
Should siam be conquered,
how can Thais live?
None of us can survive.
The last breath of free Thai.

22. Should freedom be lost   to the free,
crushed by alien enemy   in might,
darkened's the country,   as if in eclipse.
Under might is right,   What 's right is wrong.

23. I heard man's voice mixed with dog's bark.
Didn't know how to harken to which voice.

24. Oh se, how did ye   be named?
The lord had me proclaimed   in the jungle.
Oh "se" be thy shame,  dull sot!
Outwardly dull, inside sparkles
as bright as gold.

25. Oh, se how did ye   be ringed?
The lord had me ringed,   stupid.
What's it did you spring   ont the lord?
I wrote wongs limpid.   This is my pay.

26. Who blemished thy chaste cheeks,   do tell.
Mayhaps, those fleas fell   thee slaked!

27. Such liberties love itself    wouldn't take!
What man made mistake,   to dare?

28. Make not such naughty eye   so far.
Cast not such bizarre   love light.
If love's what you are   spying my way,
here i'm, take not flight,   you might lose love!

29. Grieve me not with such   sad brow,
ha, hunter sparing arrow   for quarry!
if shot i'm t' be now,   do shoot!
Hurts much this mockery,   love unrequited.

30. Boom, boom! not heaven's wrath,   i moan.
Crash, crash! not cyclone,   i fret.
Pour, pour! not rainfall,   i sigh, my heart
Fire? no fire rurns yet!   i burn with love.

31. Tears, tears, i pour out    heaven's high,
Drowning beasts of all kinds,   waste laid.
Mount everest inclines   into mud.
With brahma's timely aid
your lover still stands.

32. Oho! Bunny sights    high moon.
It will fall so soon    from height.
As bees swarm will cool    in clouds,
such love fancy flight,    it might not be.

33. Aha! how foolish   such flare,
reaching far out there    the height.
Say i, who would care   to love lonely?
Ah, as if you might   walk this earth alone.

34. What thy breast bears will    not fall.
Why cover them all    such flowers?
Those arms raised as wall,   me thinks,
Dare me climb over   to seek my love.

35. Be ye my witness,   oh sand,
god's image, though i stand   at stake.
If wrong i gave, land    true this sword.
If wrong here i take,   strike back the striker.

36. Silence reigns since bell tolled the hour last.
An outcast, here i camp by hillside,
driven from love and home, for a time
to abide under the stars and the dew.
As if stricken by the cold pall of death,
winter's breath spares far and so few,
what with wind, rain splash ll anew,
I can't be among the few to be spared.
All these pains i bear with fortitude,
no abuse on nature, to be fair.
But love's pains all refuse so to bear.
Men swear by the gods to disown.

37. What karma does us past
at the start of our joy?
sadness unalloyed
follows me where'er i go.

38. Sad are these lines on    ladies,
stricken with malady    ihomesick,
written as customary    by poets.
All my wives still stick   Around the house.

39. One court love moves to another in distress.

40. Oh, this land lying large on this earth,
over millions of acres being free,
not an inch's available for small me,
in adversity wander i like the air.

41. While you pay, they'll give you service.
so, that is the risk of servants.
When they leave for your lack of fund,
it's your knowledge well-funded
that serves you.

42. To Bang Brahma, Brahma has but four faces. Thus known to all races near and far.
But good men of Sri Ayuthya
out-face old brahma in double-face.

43. Even a pillar of rocks can rock-side
by rocking from side to side, oh, principle.

44. A woman is sought for being chaste,
likened unto jade without impurity.
Once it's cracked on unwise frivolity.
The quality is damaged beyond repair.

45. What can be th use of music?
Is't for the love-sick to utilize?
My answer, it's for savages as for civilized.
Its power ranges e'er so wide over the world.
For anger i man's mean enemy.
Music soothes savagery in nature.
That music can so lull and deter.
It conquers humans, demons and devas.

46. Amidst friends, I'm strangely friendless,
Barred from thy nearness, my heart's desire.
Playing friends are no friends for whom I'll die.
Manly fires can't compare with ladies' charms.

47. As the bee pairsoff with the flower,
old adage allows this in telligence.
Mutually men're meant for women.
Such goes on till the end of time.

48. Even sober, I'm drunk with love's drink!
What d' you think might put it a side?
Mid-day cup dilutes morn' cup of wine,
But love's wine keep me prunk all the day.

49. Pierced with spears so thick, it matters least.
They're drawn with ease, don't worry.
What should be your main anxiety
is that piercing worry in your heart.

50. Pupils down grading masters,
Youngsters in filial impiety.

51. Of all sorrows suffered by humnity.
Nothing can be as soul searing;
of all burdens onerous and crushing.
Nothing to compare with care borne.
Of all wounds daily healed by doctors,
Nothing can administer to love lorn;
of all sleeplessness lasting untill dawn,
there's no dawn for the love-sick swain.
Of all bitter sweets so replete in excess.
No bitterness can exceed lovers' pain.
Of all drunkenness comdemned as profane,
Nothing gains on love-drunk sunk in mire.
Of all pledges sacred broken in spite
of love's plight pledged in troth of desire.
Nothing can redeem such but to die
in the fire of love lost most severe.

52. Man makes paddy, woman makes rice,
wise men said.
Without aid of jungle cover,
tigers're destroyed.
With our hearts beating their sorrow and joy,
enemies are deployed into friends.
Return goodness not by taking liberties.
Give mastery to masters, least wise, deference.
Also in wars move fast with circumspection.
Men depend on men for courage.
To know little, little's known, not so bad.
More knowledge's to be had, sadly too much.
It's of us as of them born to die,
Don't defy your sin at the sun.
Only do have faith in yourself.
You can't count up to twelves without ones.
Look yourself in the mirror at day's done,
Wether you've won your day's keep to sleep on.
Should you meet with a stump in your path,
do not pass without considering
the sinking pond.
Haveing given thoughts further and beyond,
then you may call upon for action.

What's a diamond to an ape, do you think?
It's nothing to be eaten by a monkey.
It's only to the lapidary that diamonds be,
as men see others worth from their own value.
Even were a common rock to be lapidized
By the king, lord of life, who would argue?
So, give truth and falsehood their own due.
One excess chili spoils the stew with its fire.
To be man, cultivate manly virtues.
If you can't shew your own way,
who's to advise?
If it's service from another you require.
He won't call you a liar for your compliments.
To each man hence his own self convict.
To each sickness its own medicament.
Nothing's paid to purchase the pride of men.
It's likened unto a sore, do for bear.

53. Oh, sweetie pie,   oh, my orchid!
His love was dope.   Elope you did.
He's used you up.   Now it's finished.
Ah, is that it.   You're back with me?

54. In freedom without   supplement,
progress is suspended    in ignorance.
Power apprehended    for power,
upsets power balance,   only to destroy.

55. Some, whose deeds have been   proclaimed
done in thy own name,   liberty,
do in truth have aims   treacherous,
seeking opportunity   for wealth galore.

56. Oratories do bend    affairs
of state; no one cares   to oppose.
In the name of pa.   Triotism,
majority votes   private fortone.

57. Office filled by the most   unfit,
"people's government", it   is argued.
Are jackals to miss   such chance.
Their share to pursue   after the lion?

58. Ere long thyranny's tide   will turn.
Speak, then, who would burn    their tongues
It's then men will learn    predicament
to dare or to funk    under democracy.

59. What's a diamond to an ape, Do you think? It's nothing to be eaten by a monkey.

60. To firefly, its own   little light.
To the sun, its might   and glory.
Mundane, do i sight   heavenly poets,
only to dim my dignity   in a flight forlorn?

61. Life's but a breath borrowed   from time.
Yet, it can be sublime   striving
to coquer death by prime   efforts
at deathless thinking,
through eternity to endure.

62. Thy graces count beyond
thousand and one.
By thy hand justice's done   compassionate.
Art pure as the sun   truly life-giving.
Loyalty we owe affectionate,
transcending filial love.

63. Known the world o'er with
her beauty to the eyes.
Still greater beauty shines   o'er her subjects,
in acts personal, kind    ly bestowing,
commanding love and respect,
in our hearts enshrined.

64. Hundred years though our days   may saan,
sorrow follows joy in man's   life course.
Though the old year ran   in bitterness,
why yield to remorse?   Such is life law.

New year dawns not only   in the sky.
But let new light shine   in your heart.
Every joy you may find,   let it prosper.
Every sorrow let it depart,
like darkness before dawn.

65. Pray, siam guardian angle protect   all thais.
May the law rule their lives   in democracy.
May their hearths and homes survive
vicititudes.
May new year bring prosperity
to this land of smiles.

66. Sag Gra Wa, at a pinch, prince phuwanet.
It is said, semi-royal odes smote todolers.
Nai thim's yelling under caning i prefer.
Further,
why didn't your boat capsize ere arriving?.

67. Rama third, my beloved lord of life.
Had me knighted high sword lone bearer.
With his passing, here i am no longer
officer of the sword,
naught to do.
Even so, when reigned king mongkut.
I was direly put to insolvency
Luckily, muses remain with poor me.
I earn fees,
emoluments spent in fun.

68. Lookink at the moon   on high.
Moon's shadows defile   moon's face.
My own heart desire's   purity
outshines fair moon's face,
past angelic in smile.

69. My love, my beauty   divine;
were atree t' be high   above clouds,
parting, I'd consign   thee t' it.
No such arbour's about,   where shall I turn?

70. Turned I to nether world's   custody,
can I secured be   in trust?
Turned I to zephyr   in stead,
its caress would crush   thy chastity.

71. Turned i to indr's lof.   Ty kind.
Indr might have designs   thee against.
Thrice turned, none I find   as safe.
I'll entrust thee hence   in thy own loving heart.
