How to Draw Sage of the Halo

Alrighty, let's get started, ne? Guideline time...this is a front view, so you know what to do.

Next up, face line. Now, since Sage's hair does that oh-so-spiffy flip thing, you only have to start the left side from a little above the mouth line. Then take it around, up past the right eye line. The jaw is relatively angular there at the mouth line, so don't make it too round. The chin could be a little pointier than that, you be the judge.

Notice that we skip the ear for now. Since Sage has hair going every which way, it's just easier on you and your eraser if you don't draw his ear yet.

Guess what! This is why I love Sage so much...YOU ONLY HAVE TO DRAW ONE EYE!! Well, until he's in his armor, anyway. So, let's draw Sage's left eye. The top line is pretty flat, a little above the eye guideline. It curves back in pretty sharply at the outside edge, with a few eyelashes. The main eye part is round, mostly hidden behind the top line. There is one main hilite, which is a sort of rounded triangle. Then there are two other little hilites, which are just little ovals on the other side of the eye. Don't forget the pupil! (Jeez, I got the pupil a little big on this one. He kind of looks drugged... o.O)

Lookin' good...now add an eyebrow, not too thick. Sage's nose is easy in the front view. It's just a vertical line from the eye guideline down halfway to the mouth guideline, and then a little "V" looking thing just below. That's the underside of the nose, where the nostrils are, I guess.

Draw the mouth next. It's a flattened oval, resting on the mouth guideline. The bottom line is a good distance from the mouth, and it's straight.

Now we'll add Sage's ear. First, draw that little lock of hair. It goes down to about his chin. Now draw the ear behind it. Voila.

Okay, this might be kinda complicated, but let's do Sage's hair in one step. Start with the big curve in front of his face on the left. Then go back to where you started, doing that little section of bangs above the eye. It's just three zig-zags, curving up and out. Okay? Now, for the rest of the hair, start up above the oval guideline, to the left of the vertical centerline. Draw a the chunk that sticks up there on the right, then swoop back down and up into some more zig-zags there on the right. Continue that, getting smaller as you connect with the neck. Do the same thing on the left, onle it's just one big zig-zag, then a curve down to meet the initial curve you started with. Tada, Sage's lovely hair.

Finishing touches! Since armor and sub-armor are a pain in the patootie to draw, I like to stick to civilian clothes...but be my guest if you want to master the armors. More power to you. And don't forget to erase your guidelines!
