How to Draw Zechs/Milliard

Here we go with our favorite bad(?) guy, Zechs! Though since he isn't wearing that stupid mask, I guess we should call him Milliard. But that takes longer to type, so Zechs he is.

Start with basic outlines. You know what to do.

There are several things that make Zechs spiff to the max to draw. First, thanks to those massive bangs of his, very little face line shows! You can start it below the eye guideline, right about where the eye indentation would stop and where the cheek begins. It kinda goes out a little, then drops almost vertically at the chin. It's a pretty pointy chin, with a definite corner before it follows the oval up to the jaw. And guess what....second cool thing about Zechs. You can skip the ears completely most of the time!

Because Zechs' eyes are his most distinctive feature (sexy hair, aside) I'll go into a little more detail with them in a sec. For now, just do the first three basic lines to place them. This lets you know where to place the nose. As for that, it starts at the eye line and is, well...your basic nose. The point is sharp, remember, and don't forget those tiny nostril lines. He looks funny without them.

The mouth is simple, too. Most of the time Zechs has a kind of half-smile thing going, which is a breeze to draw. It's just a broken line for the main lip line, which curves up slightly at the outside corners, and the bottom lip line is curved like *gasp* a bottom lip. Easy so far, ne? Hang on, it gets more complicated.

Zechs' hair is a bit more difficult. Start with the bangs on the left, always working from the center outward. They start at the centerline, waaaaaay up there. They're not chunks like Duo's or Quatre's, they're just curvy lines. So, the first couple pieces from the center are *always* long and should hang down to the bottom of the nose. The next few are shorter, eye-length, and then there's a really thick one that hangs down below the mouth. From there on out, the sections just connect with that big one, and don't hang down separately. There's just a couple line there before the big curve that comes up and down from the center at the top of the oval, connecting with those outermost bang lines.

Do the same thing for the right side now. Start from the center and work out. The first piece in the center curves out and then down, so you can kinda see the underside of it. That's what that other little line underneath it is. Keep moving out with your curvy sections, making about the third one over hang over the eye. Then start making them longer, and then just connect them to each other until you do the big curve from the top.

When you get both sides done, it should look something like this. We'll do the rest of the hair later.

Okay, here come the eyes. Let's take a closer look at what makes Zechsy-poo's eyes so darn pretty.

It follows the basic eye rules. You have the top lash line (1) which is pretty thick. It has little curves at both ends, too, and some lashes are shown on the outside one. The bottom line (3) is pretty simple, just a shallow curve with some lashes on it. The eyebrow (5) and crease (4) are standard. What makes Zechs' eyes so *gorgeous* is the main eye part (2). It's less of a complete circle or oval than, say, Duo's. And it might not even touch the bottom line. There's the big hilite, almost a triangle, and a few smaller hilites. Now, what's important is the shading. It doesn't look quite right in grayscale, but there is a *darker* area that follows the pupil and goes under the main hitlite. That's shadow. Then there's the *lighter* part that goes under the shadow. That's where the light source is hitting the eye. I know, it's a little weird, but trust me. Having two colors here instead of just one make the eye much more realistic because it adds depth to it. The only characters that exhibit this kind of eye the majority of the time are Zechs and Duo (mostly in Endless Waltz).

So, now that you know the trick to making those pretty eyes, add them in there! Whoa...he looks like David Bowie without his eyebrows there. So...

...add them! Almost done!

Save the rest of his hair for last and do the body now. I won't go into detail on this. Here I've drawn the clothes Zechs wears as Milliard Peacecraft of the White Fang, mostly because that uniform is such a pain to draw -_-;;.

Let's finish this thing! For the back part of Zechs' hair, on the left side just start at the top and draw steep, overlapping curves all the way down to his shoulder. It's similar to the way Duo's braid starts. The right side is just plain ol' curved lines. So there ya go, your very own Zechs to play with! And you don't even have to play nice with him, either...mwahahaha.
