Welcome to the Gundam Wing tutorials section! As of now there's only the Duo lesson and, by request, one on Zechs. I'll add more mostly depending on what you ask for and my mood (it's MY page, after all!).
General Notes:
- Gundam is one of those shows without a specific formula. That is to say, the main characters have relatively different features and ways to draw them, and there are two million secondary characters who don't fit the standard anime art equation at all (i.e. the evil male officers of OZ and Romefeller, and the five scientists. Hoo, boy, now THOSE guys are an artist's nightmare!).
- For those favorite boys of ours (and Relena, Noin, Une, Dorothy, and Sally Po to an extent), the style is pretty similar. The first thing to learn is the eye. In structure, Gundam eyes are very similar to eyes Evangelion. Check out the pic below of a basic Gundam eye:
See? Just like any anime eye, it's got 1) the main top line , 2) the eye itself (which is usually kind of a wide U shape, never perfectly oval or round except in cases of surprise), and 3) the bottom line. Then there's the standard 4) crease, which usually connects to 5) the eyebrow. These parts change with the character, so be prepared for funkiness ahead.
Good References:
- Wild Wing Screen caps out the wazoo to use as references! Just remember to give credit if you use the images for your own page or anything
- The Shinigami Project Great general info page, a few good images.
