What, other than the fact that he's an incomparable cutie pie? What better reason do ya need?!
Okay, fine. The first thing that drew me in was how cute and sweet he was. Who can resist a good bishounen? Actually, at first, I didn't like him at all. I had an unhealthy obsession with Yugi at the time of his introduction, and when I saw this guy suddenly show up and start stealing everybody's souls and trying to steal Yugi's Puzzle, I was all but throwing things at the TV when I saw Yami B. But that's just the thing, see. It was Yami B all along, not Bakura. When I realized this, I took back any nay-saying, we hugged, we kissed, we carried on, we went home happy. ^_^
So basically, here I am, happy as a clam with a new bishounen. It wasn't until a while later that I started getting into the more personal stuff about him, and I think now the reason I like him so much, other than the whole "Squee, yummy bishi!" bit, (and yes, I say squee! You gotta problem with that?!) Bakura is highly complex and not at all what he seems. Kind of like me. I find myself uncomfortable talking to people I don't know very well, even if they're just classmates. If I'm with people I know, I tend to run at the mouth. ;P So for anyone who doesn't know me very well, trying to decipher me can be quite a trying task. Why bother? 'Cause these are the kind of people who must classify everyone into a certain category so that all will be right with the world. I understand Bakura had some kind of bully problem, as did I. (Death the bullies! GAH!!) Other than having some things in common, I like Bakura for his fascinating character. There's so much I don't know yet, and may never know, whether I just never find out or I'm not intended to know. However, the aspects of his character that I am familiar with need no introduction. Just read the bio, and you'll see what I mean. (It's incredibly long x.x) His very existence is something I think is really neat. First I'll explain something about what I believe: I think that people have a spirit and a soul. A spirit is the essence of the person that you are, while a soul is a noncorporeal being that inhabits the bodies of humans in order to gain an education of the universe, and "reincarnates" for the next lesson after the last one is done. Okay, so you've got this tomb robber in ancient Egypt whose spirit was trapped in the Millennium Ring. Over the course of several thousand years, his soul was reincarnated as Bakura as we know and love 'im today, but with his own spirit, of course. Then Bakura was given the Millennium Ring, and the spirit of the tomb robber possesses him, creating a third being all together. The soul is still the same, but the spirit came back. Or something like that. If you're seeing swirly things in front of your eyes, take a break. It's the weirdest thing I've ever heard, but if you've ever seen pictures of Bakura, Yami B, and Bakura the King of Thieves together, and you start to think about, it's kind of freaky. My recommendation? Don't think about it.
So in conclusion, the reason I've made a shrine to Bakura is because he's a sweetie cutie pie, (yeah, yeah, you know that part) and because he's one of the most complex and interesting characters I've seen in a long time, and character design is something I'm totally obsessed with. I go stir crazy if I spend long periods of time not designing characters. And then drawing them. I'm not obsessive. I swear, I'm not... I can quit whenever I want to! Yeah, that's right! I'll tell you when I've had enough! *twitch, twitch*
