Highlights
on the Common Rules for Studing at UNT
Keeping in Status:
If you hold F1 visa, it's more and more difficult to get less than full time
exemption (9 credits per spring or fall semester for graduates, 12 credits per
spring or fall semester for undergraduates) except you are in the last
semester(s) after you have finished all the course
requirement.
Remembr each time to report your new address to INS and
International Office when you move.
99 Credt Hour Rule:
Put all the credit hour of all the PhD programs that you have attended in
UNT together, if it exceeds 99 credit hours, no matter whether you get
assistance or not, you have to pay out-of-state tuition. However, if you
have no Master degree before you enter UNT, such constraint is extended to 129
credit hour.
SSN Avoidance:
If you are TA, try to avoid to use SSN as a student public
ID. You can use UNT ID (eagle mail ID) to distinguish students. Putting
student SSN on public area such as web will cause serious legal problem!
Hassles: If you
meet some hassles that you cannot handle, you might go to International
Office to seek legal advising from the lawer (It's freely available for
international students). Or you can discuss it with the Chinese students here
via such as emailing group list.
Frequently Check such the
Issues with International Office , Graduate School, and your
Department.
