About Yarramundi

Situated in the foothills of the Blue Mountains between Richmond and Springwood, Yarramundi is as close as you can get to being in a 'rural retreat' or 'in the bush'. Named after an Aboriginal elder 'Yello-Mundee' the area is now home to some 200 families who have settled here since 1792.

With majestic mountains to the west and the languid Nepean to the east, utilities are hard pressed to be put in place. (Actually, reticulated water and sewerage are the only ones that are not. But that has helped to moderate the urban sprawl to the west).

Yarramundi is a thriving community of young and old, with a mixture of new residences and locals. Locals, by definition, have to have lived in Yarramundi for at least twenty years and moved at least twice.

While 'back woods' Yarramundi is not 'backwards'. There is a modern well equiped Rural Fire Brigade, new community centre, and an active Yarramundi Progress and Development Association (YPDA).
