I left Sudan in October of 1989 to Cairo, Egypt. I spend two months in Cairo before moving on to Baghdad, Irag in search of a visa to western Europe or Canada. After six Months with a TransFrance Petroleum Company, I finally got a visa to Belgrade the capital city of Yoguslavia during the communist regime. I was almost send back to Irag by the Immigration officials who believed most Africans coming to Yoguslavia during the Football World Cup in Italy were there to find a way to that Country. After struggling for three months in Yoguslavia and Italy I ended up in Athens Greece. In October 24, 1992 I accomplished my First dream of landing in the U.S.A., in Houston TX, by hidding in a Cargo ship. I proceed to N.Y. city where I obtained my political Asylum. My first daughter Lula Joseph Genebo, was born October 18,1987 when I was in high school. She passed away before her 2nd birth date without me ever seeing her. God! she was so beatiful like an angel.
My Daughter Maria Joseph Genebo was born November 30, 2000. She asked me when she was four years old why she look different from me and her mom who is white. I told her she was just extra special and it was her happiest moment that day afterward. I'm attending School at University of Minnesota in the great twincities. Click here for my photos |
