| The HUC-JIR Shaul's Sluggers softball team stepped up to the plate on Tuesday night for a big openning day challenge against the US Marines. The Sluggers started off strongly in the first inning, holding the Marines to one run. After three innings, the Marines managed to rack up eight runs, but were soon brought back into the ball game by the Sluggers when in the bottom of the third they produced a six run rally. Centerfielder David Eshel drove in three runs with his triple and Jen Roher had a crucial RBI - the team's first of the season. Throughout the game, the outfield (Mo Glazman - LF, David Eshel - CF, and Joel Fleekop - RF) proved solid and came through in many clutch situations. Although the gap between the score of each team grew consistently larger as the night went on, the fun atmosphere (enhanced by our wonderful fans) continued until the last pitch was thrown. MVP of the game goes to David Eshel for his powerful at-bats and strong defensive play. In addition, the team deserves credit for the fact that there was not one strike-out among the team for the whole game. The next game will be played on Thursday, February 15 at 8:30 against the Jersualem University College. |
