| In their second game of the season, Shaul's Sluggers suffered another defeat, although this time gave up fewer runs to the opposing team, the Jerusalem University College Swingers, than in their previous game. Once again, the team started off strong with four runs in the first inning. Newcomers, Stephen Wise and Billy Tiep, had solid first games at LF and shortstop, respectively. Joel Fleekop had a nice knock out of the park, which counted as a ground-rule single because of the short right field fence. A special guest appearance was made by none other than Shaul "the slugger" himself. He helped to finish out the game in right field. There will be lots of softball practice on our upcoming trip to the Galil and Golan so that by our next game, in addition to the return of the cantors, we will look like a whole new squad. There will not be a game this week because of the tiyul. Stay tuned for information about our next game. -Carey Brown |
