American Pie 2

I really liked the first one (see review) , so I had a feeling I was in for a disappointment. But to my surprise, I wasn't disappointed in the least! It definitely wasn't as good as the first one, but I thought it was just as funny. I was actually surprised on how much I laughed. They did a great job continuing the story with all the characters and this worked so well due to the fact that the producers were successful in bringing everybody back. It brought me back to a comfortable place with people I was already familiar with. And I can't believe how hot Shannon Elizabeth is. Damn.
* * * stars!

Evolution

This movie was directed by Ivan Reitman, famous for directing Ghostbusters. So I was expecting a good quality funny movie. Well, I didn't get that. Instead, I got a movie with a mediocre story, bad acting, and jokes that failed all over the place. Julianne Moore plays a pointless part, David Duchovny was just plain bad, and Seaan William Scott deviates from his usual part as an asshole, and now he's just a complete idiot. His new part doesn't work for him or in this movie at all. The only redeeming actor here was Orlando Jones. Good effects though! * 1/2 stars

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within

I watched this movie in complete amazement. The movie is completely computer generated and suceeds in being the most realistic CGI movie to date. Most of the voices were great such as Steve Buscemi and Alec Baldwin, but the voice talent of the main girl wasn't very convincing. I thought although it had some plot holes, the story was good. However, the premise is very hard-core science-fiction and will not appeal to everybody. It appealed to me though! * * * stars.

Jurassic Park 3

Dinosaurs are cool... Humans are not. When ever a T-Rex opened up its mouth to roar, I was like "Woah cool!" When ever a human open his or her mouth to talk, I was like "Shut the #@$% up!!!" The background plot, if that's what you want to call it, was not very interesting and most of the dialogue transferred by the actors was just dumb and pointless. There are plenty of good scares though and the dinosaur effects are the best I've seen. The movie was enjoyable whenever humans weren't talking, so I'll give this * * 1/3 stars.

Legally Blonde

Yes, I actually enjoyed this movie. Reese Witherspoon was very amusing. I didn't care much about the other characters; some I think the movie could have done without. Not a great story and it doesn't really make too much realistic sense, but it was overall a pretty funny and entertaining movie.. some misses but not nearly as much as in Evolution , which really did suck ass. * * 1/2 stars

The Others

Pretty scary at times.. if I jump, then that definitely means that it's good movie. Don't want to say to much because it's one of those kind of movies. It's all about the element of surprise. And even though I called the ending about a half hour in... I still found it to be a great movie. *** stars.

Pearl Harbor

I wasn't expecting an accurate portrayal of what actually happened at Pearl Harbor; I was expecting a love story.. and that's what I got. And I enjoyed it very much. It wasn't as nearly as effective as Titanic was, but it was very good nevertheless. The visual effects were incredibly impressive. * * * stars

Planet of the Apes

Let me just say that Tim Burton is a genius. I want to see more sci-fi Tim Burton (not Mars Attacks! though), excellent sequences through out. An overall great re-working of the original movie. MarkWahlberg almost wasn't heroic enough such as someone like Charlton Heston (as in the original) or Mel Gibson. But maybe that was Burton's point, that he didn't want to be a hero. Heston's cameo was good yet amusing. The human girl (Estella Warren) was unnecessary as a love interest for Wahlberg's character; perhaps if they had more scenes together.. or if she instilled a greater conflict to the plot. But it didn't work. She was nice to look at though! Great twist of an ending too! * * * Stars

Serendipity

Yes, I actually watched a "chick flick". I like "chick flicks" and I liked this one too! John Cusack is great, as always, and Kate Beckinsale dips her feet into comedy and ends up with a breakthrough performance. A lot of the coincidences that occur in the movie might be, at first, thought to be ridiculous, but if you think about it, there is nothing that says that it actually CAN'T happen. Supporting players Jeremy Piven and Molly Shannon were great too. * * * Stars.

Swordfish

The opening scene had my mouth wide open. I was telling myself, "Adam, your mouth is completely wide open. Close it, you idiot!" Yet, I could not. This movie is a great "forget-about- everything-that-makes-sense-to-you-in-this-world" movie. If you can let yourself be sucked in to something like that, then you will be totally sucked in. John Travolta is one bad madda-fabbadda.
* * * stars.

Tomb Raider

Angelina Jolie is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO hot! This movie sucked. Wow, she's hot. The story was very uninteresting. I couldn't believe the size of those... statues. They were huge! I'm stuck on the video game, so I was hoping that the movie would give me hints, but it didn't. Did I mention that she's hot?
** stars.
