iv.Lula Shamblin b. 22 Jul 1874; died 24 Apr 1961 in Rockmart, Polk County, Georgia. She is buried at Middleton, Calhoun County, Alabama in Oak Bowery Cemetery ( near Ohatchee ). She married Thomas Anderson MEARS about 1894. They settled in Ohatchee, Calhoun, Alabama some time near 1902.Thomas Anderson MEARS, born November, 1874, was Station Agent for the Seaboard Airline Railway from about 1902 until his retirement at age 65 in 1939. He and Lula Jane were divorced about 1939 and he moved to Florida where he remarried and lived in retirement in Bradenton, Manatee County, Florida until his death at age 99 in April, 1974. She owned and operated a general store in Ohatchee for many years. Her store building is still standing. She also owned other properties in and around Ohatchee. She reared a large family of seven children:
1) Jack Ulric Mears who settled in Gadsden, Alabama,
2) Lurline Mears Cummings who settled in Rockmart, Georgia,
3) Briscoe Thomas Mears who settled in Lawrenceville, Georgia,
4) Jacob Lance Mears, Sr. lived in Florida and retired in Savannah, Georgia from the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad,
5) Glen George Mears, retired from US Army and lived in Jacksonville, Florida,
6) Mildred Mears Poss who settled in Anniston and Oxford, Alabama,
7) Thomas Anderson Mears, Jr. who died in infancy during the flu epidemic of 1917 and is buried next to his mother in Oak Bowery Cemetery at Middleton, Alabama. All are deceased.
