EGYPT
CAIRO
A jewel of Cairo as well as Egypt is the Egyptian Museum.  Below are some of my "collections"  :)  The explanations, hmmm, I tried my best, but if you happen to notice any mistakes or have anything to add, please don't hesitate to email and let me know.  Thanks!

Statue of Khafre (Chepren), builder of the second pyramid at Giza, with the wings of the falcon god Horus wrapped around his head in a protective gesture.
Here is the happy dwarf Seneb and his family.  Seneb was Chief of the Royal Wardrobe  :)
Statues of the royal couple, Rahotep and Nofret, from over 4500 years ago.
Statue of Akhenaten (in reign 1352-1336 BC), husband of the most famous Nefertiti and father of also the most famous Tutankhamun hahaha.  But he is an amazing character himself as well.  It was he who boldly abandoned all the previous gods of Egypt and worshiped exclusively the sun god Aten, as reflected in his name.  He also abandoned the capital of Thebes and built a completely new city, Amarna.  The features of the statue may look extraordinary, but according to some studies, he might have suffered from some syndrome.
Hmmm fish  :)
Ramses II, builder of the Ramesseum and Abu Simbel, although he was often depicted as a child with his finger in his mouth.
The gold death mask of Tutankhamun (in reign 1336-1327 BC), cast in solid gold and weighing 11kg, has become a symbol of Egypt.  The tomb is located at the Valley of the Kings in Luxor, and was discovered in 1922 by English archaeologist Howard Carter.  Was he really murdered according to some study?
This alabaster chest contains four canopic jars with stoppers in the form of Tutankhamun's head.  Inside these jars were placed four miniature gold coffins that, in turn, contained the pharaoh's internal organs.  The chest is protected by the four goddesses at its four corners: Isis, Neith, Nephthys and Selket.
Queen Merit-Amon is my personal favourite statue.  Originally known as the "White Queen", she was daughter of Ramses II.  She looks so elegant and graceful, with such a beautiful touch of smile.
This is not an ordinary cow.  It is Hathor, the cow goddess of love, music, joy and dance.
Lovely presentations of daily objects
