Tradition

YMCA Local Community (LC) Nitra is a part of Slovak and worldwide movement.
It is consistent with an open membership policy, involving people irrespective
of origin, age, sex, nationality, religious beliefs and confessions,
social conditions and political opinions.
In a practical life of individuals tries to perceive Christian ideas as
a very important source of spiritual and moral strength. The association
maintain the principles of the Paris Basis which was formulated at the
First World Conference of YMCAs held in Paris in 1885.
"YMCA seek to unite those young men who, regarding Jesus Christ
as their God and Savior according to the Holy Scriptures, desire to be
His disciples in their doctrine and in their life, and to associate
their efforts for the extension of His Kingdom amongst young men."
This Basis is extended by the Kampala's Principles 1973:
- Work for equal opportunity and justice for all.
- Work for and maintain an environment in which relationships among people are characterized by love and understanding.
- Work for and maintain conditions, within the YMCA and in society, its organizations and institutions, which allow for honesty, depth and creativity.
- Develop and maintain leadership and programme-patterns, which exemplify the varieties and depth and creativity.
- Work for the development of the whole person.
- Any differences in opinions can't disturb brother's relationships among members of the world movement YMCA.
