Maukah? Maukah? Part I...

23rd March 1997

It's Sunday 10.31pm. I just finished slurping a 'slurpacious' cup of Seven-Eleven Slurpee... my first Slurpee. Mmmm... slurp! Actually, I just came back from another escapade in town. I abstained from drinking after dinner (my dinner cost me a bit of a bomb... yes, being the miser I am) and was very thirsty. So, this gave me the excuse of trying out a Slurpee. Yipee!

So, by now you might have guessed that I am, again, going to start off another one of 'those' mails. Please, again, do not be obliged to read on if you are in a hurry.

I was at Chowrastra Bazaar at 5.30pm attempting to locate the elusive 2nd hand book shop. At long last... I found it! It was a sight to behold. Stacks and stacks of books, neatly piled up... very organised, too. They have all sorts of books from story books to university books. A man came up to me and asked... no, not "Maukah? Maukah?" but what I wanted. I asked about old Readers Digests. He led me to a stack about 2 to 3 feet high. 1996 issues were RM2 each while older ones were about 50 or 80 sen each. I bought 2 1996 issues.

I was a bit disappointed he didn't pop the million dollar question. However, I'm not complaining... that shows I do not have that lecherous (hum sup) look! Heh! Heh! Of course... please don't register anything I mentioned in this paragraph... I write rubbish sometimes.

After paying the man, I went to Pawagam SFX to see a re-run of Jesus of Nazareth: The Entry Into Jerusalem. Jesus was played by Fr. Clement Pereira. It was free of charge and they even gave out free palm branches for us to wave to make the movie even more realistic. It was worth it... running time was 75 minutes. I was waiting to hear a cock do his cockle-doodle-dooooo or "what-to-do... what-to-do..." but apparently he didn't show up... much to my disappointment... but what to do?

Ooo... its getting late. However, my 'little' story is not over yet. Stay tuned for "Maukah? Maukah? Part II" at a Pusat Komputer near you.

Until then, here's wishing you a very Holy Week ahead. God bless you.

Yours maukah-ly,
Bart
