Ah Poh...

I was having dinner at Shuang Sing yesterday after a game of tennis. As I sat at my open-air table, I saw Shuang Sing's Ah Poh making her way to the restaurant from Lorong Sungai Dua.

I like the way she dresses... in flowery sarong and cotton long-sleeved shirt... typical Hokkien style, I guess. Simple and neat. I can't help but marvel at the life she's living now... nothing to worry about... children all grown up... no need to run the rat-race.

Isn't it nice to live a life like hers? I shall look forward to the day I start living like that. My ambition at that time... to live graciously... and when the time comes, to die peacefully.

Long live Ah Poh...
