About Mrs Yocum

Personal
Information
I
began my teaching career late - the year I turned 39. **PSST** Don't
tell anyone but I am a reformed Home Ec major. I taught it for 5 years
but also taught Earth Science and was hooked. I went back to school and
got my certification in General Science and Chemistry.
I began teaching
chemistry and physical science at Grant
High School in 2003. What a joy, hoot, fun, challenge, the bomb, and
great time
I have had!! Bill, (my husband of 18 years) just rolls his eyes when I
say for the umteenth time "I love my job!!"
I received
my BS from Mississsippi University for Women (when it *was* all women).
I got my MS at LA Tech. Then went back for my chemistry, taking some at
Tech and some at NSU.
I've introduced
Bill. Now for the rest of the clan. Bill had 3 children, mostly grown
when we married, and I had Sarah who was 3 at the time. The summer
Sarah finished high school two of Bill's grandchildren moved in with
us. They are Tarell, now 9, and Raven, now 7. In November of 2004, my
beautiful grandaughter Maggie was born. And July 2005 Gunnar, our
soon to be ball player, was born. No empty nest for
us....life just keeps going and going and going.....
My hobbies don't
get as much time as they did in my "pre"teaching years. I enjoy my
yard, reading, and occassionally making soap - yep, from scratch - the
lye, the oil, the works. It is really a much more refined process than
in the "old" days.
