History
"Factions began as a short story written in 1998. Back then it was only the background text with a little less. In 1999 I got a hold of Escape Velocity off a Mac Addict CD and was hooked. After I'd beaten it a couple of times I decided I wanted to make my own plugin for it. Unfortunately EVO had just come into my possession and I put thoughts of plugin making aside. After a while I beat EVO and plugin making began to form in my mind again. However I lost interest before I really got started.
About two months before Nova was released I regained my interest in EV and started work on a TC for the original Escape Velocity called 'The Council'. It was going well (I'd put thoughts for graphics aside for the moment) and then while on the internet I saw an ad for EV Nova. I took a peak at it and downloaded it. I was hooked and had registered' in a week. After about three months I'd beaten it every conceivable way and I started work on an expansion plugin for the Vell-os. After a while I grew tired with it after realising that the storyline was pretty shit. I put it aside and went on to other things. It was late 2002 when, while throwing out a bunch of old school things, I found the book where I'd written the short story 'Factions' and I thought "Gee, maybe I should do something for EV with this..." I began plotting the governments in more detail and started thinking about expanding the universe. I plotted a half-a-dozen governments (just base ideas nothing final) and I started work on ships. After a while everything began to fall into place, I managed to get myself a team of some of the finest developers on the boards and I began to round out the final pieces of development. In about May 2003 serious programming began and I started to look at spreading the Factions universe beyond the boundaries of the Republic and Alliance and I began to work on revamping the universe. After months of development the plugin is as it stands now, though in truth it was in existence for more than half a decade."
