Yorick's Merry Men Guild Charter

A charter is a unique concept.  One document that is created in order to describe an entities purpose.  A charter can also be used to book a flight, but that's not important.  Here I'll attempt to hit the main things that Yorick's Merry Men is about.

1.  Comaraderie

We are a guild because we like each other.  A group of people who enjoy each others' company, an online family.  Besides, seeing all that green text adds fun to the game.

2.  Fun

Having people you know and like around makes it possible to have more fun while you play.

3.  Assistance

Because we're all friends, we should want to help each other when possible.  This entry deserves more consideration:

  • Help with equipment.   It's not your guild's job to equip you and equipment doesn't make the game, company does.  However, people who are a family like to help each other and whether that's with hand-me-downs, help with quests or simple price checks, you'll find that we often do help each other with equipment.  It's just not a JOB to do so.

  • Help with advice.  This is very important.  I left an early guild I was in because people wouldn't/couldn't give me useful advice.  If you ask a question about a zone, camp or where to go at a certain level over guildchat, somebody should and probably will answer.

  • Help with corpse recovery.  I personally feel that if at all possible it is a guild's responsibility to help people get their corpses from places they cannot get to by themselves.  Often this will consist of one high level person running in and dragging it out.  however, it could be a group of people dedicated to fighting their way in to where the corpse lies.  A corpse recovery is perhaps the most important assistance people can get.

4.  Obligations

By being in Yorick's Merry Men, you are obligated to have fun while playing.  Aside from the corpse recovery above, you have no other obligations.  I'd like to have everyone chat in guildchat when they are on, as communication forms friendships.  But you don't have to.

5.  Solving problems

As with anything we, as people, pursue, there will always be problems with some thing, person or idea.  Talk to me about it.  I am always able to talk, no matter what I am doing in the game.  I will probably have to talk over /tells, but I'm not only available to talk, I like to talk.  If you have an idea, want to organize something or just want to try something new, let me know.  I'll reply, I promise.
