As a youth member at Yorktown Baptist Church (YBC) for 16 years, I’ve stumbled across something that I couldn’t see when I was younger. I’ve been going to this church my whole life. When I was young, I felt like I had to come every Sunday. I would come and listen to people talk and I wouldn’t know what they were talking about. As I got older, I was wondering why people come to church. It only took a couple of years to figure this out. I’m Dyvon and I am 16 years old. I finally realize why people come. It’s to get closer to Almighty God! When I am in church on Sunday, and I hear Pastor John preach, I feel a load being lifted off my shoulders every week. If you are still wondering what I stumbled across, it is a loving church family. Here, there is always someone to talk to and someone to help. And everyone is welcome! I know the Youth Speaks has been empty, but not anymore. I’ve made it my responsibility to let it be known that the youth is here and we are in the community doing what we can to do God’s work. And, for all the other youth in the Yorktown Virginia area, who don’t go to church because you don’t understand, like I didn’t, come join us at YBC. We welcome anyone!
