By-the-bye, at least THIS many visits: .
have "occured" since I've put this here... NOW tell me there isn't any conspiracy!!!
I don't need much in this world, just a few square feet of wilderness.
Away from civilization. Just ME and Nature! Just a hole in the trees.
EVERYbody needs a LITTLE place. Shake off the city!
Yup! Just a place to throw up a tent. Maybe a lean-to. Or a shed
maybe. No, wait, I know, a BARN! Yeah! Functional, utilitarian,
open... Hmmm maybe a little TOO open. OK, a cabin. Just a small
one. Maybe two rooms. Yeah. Kitchen -- GOTTA have a kitchen, and a
bed room. What else does a man need!? Oh. OK, a BATHROOM, 'cus after
all, it DOES get cold in the winter. And those mosquitos! In-door
plumbin' ain't gonna change ME none! And I guess a shower. Maybe a
sink. Gotta have a sink for the kitchen, anyway, what's one more for
the bathroom. Hey, I can save on electricity if I put in sky-lights!
Yeah! And one in the bedroom. No, TWO! And one more for the kitchen. Keep
it even out. OK. And I'll need shed built on the side -- tools, you
know. And I may as well put that barn in. I could get double storage
if I put the cabin on a raised foundation. What're a couple more logs.
'Sides, it'll insulate the floor a bit more. And it improves the view!
I'd LOVE to show this view to my friends. I guess I could add an extra
room in case company comes to stray. Just big enough for a bed. And a
chair I guess. Chest of drawers, small closet, and maybe their own
bathroom. Oh, and two more skylights. Hm... kind of crowded in the
kitchen. OK, a dining room. And I guess a "sitting room". We can
lounge in front of the fireplace. OH! Fireplace! Almost forgot! Maybe
I could make it a tall cabin. Put some boards across some of the
rafters, make a storage area. Yeah. Like an attic. OK. Hey! I could
store some of my radio equipment there! Maybe make it into a little ham
shack, in case I ever get back into amateur radio. And, if I make it
just a bit bigger, a small office. You know, computer, table,
printer... I could run a business out of it. Of course I'd need a phone
then, but only upstairs. OOOH! Stairs. OK, and a small balcony with a
rustic wood railing. And another skylight in the "hall". Makes it easy
to see. Hey! A largish picture window! Yeah! Right in front of the
"sitting room". Can't have it dark there. And if I make it just a bit
larger, it'd be GREAT at Christmas time, maybe put a little tree there?
I could always leave that portion of the room lofted. A bigger tree!
OK. Now, that's all I need. Oh, and a little extra wire. May as well
wire the whole cabin for electricity. I'll need it in the office
anyway. It's kind of crowded for an "office"... let's see, extend the
south wall, put in some book shelves and viola! A STUDY! Oh, and
another skylight or two. Hey, there's a nice view from up there, why
not use it? And, as long as I can see the lake from the north, I could
move MY bedroom up there. Yeah! And glass that whole wall in. And
maybe a little terrace. Just enough for a chair. Or two. In case I
want to entertain... Sheesh, who am *I* gonna entertain out HERE? Maybe
just a little more room, 'cus then I've got a GREAT overhang for a back
porch. It'll be shaded in the summer, sheltered in the winter. A
couple more chairs. A railing. Don't want any kids tumbling off. Or
obnoxious adults! Maybe put some bushes below it... cushion the fall.
And Azaleas would go great out there. I guess I ought to terrace the
lawn a bit. I got to clear out some of those trees anyway... It'll
improve the view, and I can put a garden in. Just a little one. Enough
for one person. Maybe enough for two, if I get lucky enough to find the
right lady. And I guess add a bit in case we ever have kids. It sure
would be nice to share that Christmas with a family, after all. And, if
I clear just a LIIIITLE more land, we can always grow just a bit more
for the roadside stands. And maybe some for a horse or a cow. I wonder
what veggies cows like. Goats will eat ANYTHING (so they say) and have
VERY nutritious (and RICH!) milk. As long as I'm clearing that way out a bit,
maybe make a little trail down to the lake. The crick is nice, but the
banks aren't really made for walking along, just sitting and fishing.
Maybe just a little path. Or, a LITTLE wider, and I can get a hand-cart
down to the lake and haul my boat in and out. YEAH! Oooorrrrr.... I
could put a little pier in. Just enough to tie up a dingy. Or one of
the relatives... they're pretty dingy. And dinghy. And maybe a
little boat shed. You know, keep tools and stuff. Fishing poles.
Gear. And a grill, for when we want to have a fire on the lake. Cook
FRESH fish! Yea! And some fresh corn. Bigger garden. I could clear
a little of the brush away on either side, and we'll have a little
landing where we can put the chairs. It'll be cool in the evening.
A fire ring! And stone benches. Rustic! Let's see... I guess I
ought to buy a couple more acres, just to make sure we're isolated from
the world... insulated is more like it. But I can put a small road
through, so visitors don't have to hike. And maybe a small clearing out
by the entry, so's folks can see it. I'd hate to have a cookout or
Thanksgiving dinner and have everyone get lost! Hm... may as well plan
ahead. If HER parents are living, then we'll need an extra guest room.
And maybe one for her brothers or sisters. The kids can sleep in the
living room on the floor, next to the fireplace. I guess I need to make
the fireplace a bit larger, and extend the living room. And add an
extra couple of parking spaces and a carport. No sense in us being
miserable. I just thought... I'll need some extra cupboards in the
kitchen, and may as well put in a pantry. Oh, and an extra full bath.
You know how those kids are. And some more windows. I can put some
fruit trees in on the south side, near that nice grassy knoll. It gets
good sun. And maybe some nut trees. And some berry bushes. Kids'd
love that! And we could freeze the berries for fresh fruit for our
family dinners in the winter. I guess I need to add a refrigerator.
Funny how you could over look something like that. And maybe a
DOUBLE-sink. It'll need to be a large kitchen anyway, with all those
folks piled in and trying to lend a hand. hm... and I know guys. We
could alway make a separate TV room, just for the grown-ups. A little
color TV so's Dad and Uncle Dave (if I had either one) would watch the
football games and keep out of the way. And if I make it large enough,
maybe a couple of recliners. Nothing beats a snooze after a big holiday
dinner! And maybe another fireplace. Gotta keep warm if you're gonna
snooze! Maybe back to back with the one in the living room?! If we're
gonna have a couple of families by for Christmas, we'll need a larger
living room. And kitchen. I guess I can enlarge the guestroom(s) and
then any young kids can be put in with their parents in one of those
traveling little cribs. And I guess I ought to clear out some more of
that brush. Kids need enough room to roam. Wouldn't it be neat for a
kid to be able to just waste a day fishing and romping and climbing
trees, boating on the lake, and playing with the dog? A DOGGY-DOOR!
Of course, we'll need to make the "road" a bit wider, and maybe a little
heavier. No telling what city folks will try to drive up there. Of
course, with "sport-utility vehicles" being all the rage for the
yuppies, maybe they'll be better outfitted for it than *I* will.
Gee! How did this all get started.
Yep, all a man really needs is a couple of feet of wilderness...
I'll be stocking these pages (like stocking fish, or stocking feet, but NO STALKING) as soon as I can... 'tween work, driving all over hell and creation, and trying to have a life in-between, my page will grow sporadically. A bit here, a page there, a frame, maybe some links. I encourage FEEDBACK (hey, mail me!) and will return almost all mail, pretty gladly. If you've an interest in the outdoors, or in self-sufficiency, or if you know an intelligent, attractive female who's interested in finding a great guy, introduce her to this cute, 37yo recovering geek who's interested in a family, and all the neat stuff that goes along with it. All that romance blather will be gladly and dutifully recited once I get to know her. Hey, tell her for me. -ciao, and check back later!

HEY! My marcus_anarcus@oocities.com is up, so MAIL ME! Or Female me, ya know.
Do I have enough references to mail addresses on here?
Just a note before you go...
This is how it used to be:
"cute, 37yo recovering geek seeks intelligent independent professional babe who wants to get married, have lots of babies and all the other neat stuff that goes into a loving relationship. Holistically, scientifically adorable (I have references) with puppy-like antics, seeks someone who likes to cuddle, ride bikes, go "antiquing", enjoy sunsets, romance, holding hands, etc. Also, must put up with silly jokes, bad puns, lots of irreverence of sacred cows ("babe?" -- No, Babe was: 1) a Blue Ox, and 2) a pig...) and general disrespect of authority figures. Spirituality prefered, but no preferences as to what. Non-smokers need apply."
But then I met the real Ms Right. I'm sorry for all you women that didn't get the chance, but it's really your own fault for not moving faster. ;-)
