Agusan Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary

Agusan Marsh has been declared a wildlife sanctuary as part of the CPPAP program and UN Protected Area List. It is located in the Agusan River valley in the heart of east-central Mindanao in the Agusan del Sur province. The area covers 89,359 ha and protects the endangered Philippine Crocodile among other marshland and lowland forest species.

The sanctuary is located in the riparian area west of the town of Banawan althought the exact boundaries are uncertain even to the DENR officials who purportedly issued logging permits within the protected area. Banawan is about 50 km south of Prosperidad, the provincial capital.
