Mount Malindang National Park
In 1971 this large area, 53,262 ha, was set aside as a national
park and watershed reserve. Mt. Malindang rises 2,425 m at the heart of
Misamis Occidental Province and the park covers a large portion of the
eastern flanks of the mountain range. The area features a crater lake,
rainforest, pine and mossy forests, and several river systems.
Little mentioned in the travel guides, this is one of the
few remaining areas where extensive unaltered montane habitats can be found.
It is one of the top-ten priority areas in the National Integrated Protected
Areas System. Ozamis City looks like the best access point and can be reached
by flights from Cebu City or by bus from Cagayan de Oro via Iligan City.
