Northern Sierra Madre Nature Park (Palanan Wilderness)
Encompassing an area of 319,513 ha along the eastern slopes
of the Sierra Madre and Pacific coast of Isabela Province, the region was
proclaimed a wilderness area in 1979 and more recently included as part
of the CPPAP priority protected areas program.
The town of Palanan is within the Nature Park boundary
which extends north and south to the provincial borders. Access to the
park is by boat from the south since there are no roads into the area.
