Guides - Bulusan Volcano
Towering 1,548-meters above the sea, BULUSAN VOLCANO appears like a crawling
giant in the midst of a forest. Declared a national park in 1935 it covers
3,673 hectares of rainforest that harbors rare plants and animals. Located
60-km south of Legazpi in the Sorsogon Province, the jumpoff point is the
town of Irosin.
Typical Three-Day Schedule:
DAY 1
1:00 p.m. Leave Legazpi City for Sorsogon, Sorsogon Province.
3:00 Arrive at Sorsogon then
continue to Irosin.
5:00 Arrive at San Roque, Irosin.
Arrange accomodations or camp.
6:00 Dinner.
DAY 2
6:00 a.m. Breakfast. Break Camp.
7:00 Start trek to first camp.
11:30 Lunch along trail.
5:00 p.m. Arrive at first camp.
6:00 Dinner.
DAY 3
5:30 a.m. Breakfast.
6:00 Start trek to summit.
7:00 Arrive at peak. Explore
area and have snack.
8:00 Begin decent to camp.
8:30 Arrive at camp. Break
camp.
9:00 Start decent to San Roque.
11:30 Stop for lunch along trail.
2:00 p.m. Arrive at San Roque then continue to Irosin.
4:00 Arrive at Irosin.
4:30 Take transportation to
Sorsogon then continue to Legazpi.
6:30 Arrive at Legazpi for
hot meal, cold beer and a shower.

and to hire guides.

It is possible to attempt the climb anytime of the year in absence of tropical
depressions or if advised otherwise by the local weather bureau.

Guard against leeches especially during the rainy season. Secure cuffs
of long-sleeved t-shirt and pants. Tweezers and lighted cigarettes are
useful for removing leeches. As a preventive measure, ordinary soap may
be rubbed on pants and shoes to ward off leeches.
