Wollongong (NSW)

Wollongong is the first major city south of Sydney (about an hour's drive) and is located under the imposing Illawarra escarpment. This is a continuation of the Sydney sandstone, and is quite reminiscent of the Blue Mountains.

Although there appears to be much new route potential along the escarpment, access tends to be difficult, with many cliffs on private property (quite often on mining land).
