The club
The soul of the club is our well loved president
Gerhard
Wenty, who has formed the club since its foundation in 1988.
Our flying experiences comprise classical collapse of the canape, landings somewhere in the sticks,
being snowed-in up on mountain huts, getting pissed in pubs all night long and last but not least
the rescue of pilots having landed in the trees.
Weather and our time planners permitting, we also have competitions where we can demonstrate our flying abilities in breathtaking performances.
We are also quite musical and enjoy just about every kind of accoustic activity:
We have Guitarists, more and less talented singers, a violinist and guys playing drums.
Since we Viennese don't have our "own" mountain we see a lot of this world.
We fly in other parts of Austria, Italy, France, Switzerland, Slovenia and sometimes the Canaries, South Afria, Australia and Brazil.
Our pilots work in diverse fields, for example for computer companies, for the Austrian broadcasting cooperation, as carpenters, policemen, bank employees, chemists, or own pickle companies.
We have architects, electricians and hotel receptionists.
What we do not have, is a chimney-sweep.
Since women are not at all abundant when it comes to hang- and paragliding we are extremely proud that our club has quite a few.
We also have our very own club-logo: the FLIGA-duck.
Not everybody thinks that its posture and expression are representative of our club...
(FLIGA-duck T-shirts and watches are available.)
In the course of the years various customs have developed. For example the FLIGA-greeting or the FLIGA-beer.
