Castle Rock
A nice sandstone area about 90mins south of San Francisco, and West of San Jose/Silicon Valley. Primarily bouldering although a few insignificant routes are here if you're on the mood. A lot gets made of the similarity of the rock to Fontainebleau (France). It's true, but nobody seems to be as keen to point out that's it's only got about 1% as much bouldering as Font!! Anyway, it's a lovely little spot up on top of the hill and you can look down the hill to San Jose and the Bay, or Santa Cruz and the Pacific, depending which spot you're at. These shots are all from the Magoo boulders, up near Castle Rock itself, from a spring day when the moss was in full bloom.
