Consumnes River Gorge

A view of Gutenberg Dome from above Buck Bar Dome, as you approach from the cars. This shows the top 4 or so pitches of climbing (ie about 120m), while the first 30m of climbing out of the river isn't visible.
* Gutenberg Wall 120m 5.10a/18 (OS)
A great romp up the right hand side of the dome. It is possible to take just a single 60m rope and rap off, but to reach the next rap station usually involves diagonal abseils!

Gutenberg Dome

Peter pulls over the 5.10a direct version of the first pitch of Gutenberg Wall, with the river roaring below due to a heavy snowmelt. The water level is up to the 2nd or 3rd bolts of the routes on that slab at top left!
Gutenberg Dome

Peter seconding again, on the 5.9 left variant on pitch 4 of Gutenberg Wall, way up above the river.

And here's a view from Gutenberg Dome back across to Buck Bar Dome, the smaller cragging area which you access first on the walk in. Notice the guy toproping the central offwidth. The slanting corner on the right is Test Piece (** 5.8), a beautiful hand jamming corner.

A shot of Peter toproping Adhesion, the 5.10c arete right of Testpiece.
