To connect: Menu > Computer-Connection OFF
GPS 40 output: Serial cable, D-Type, 9 pin, female
To connect: Menu | I/O Setup | GRMN/GRMN ---> HOST
To use the PSION 3A together with the Garmin GPS 40 you need a special PSION Software.
