Sharon Myers Family Recipes
Being a busy mother of eight I found myself romancing the range and washer more often than my husband in my younger years. (obviously with 8 children these electrical wonders did take a back seat now and then.) Needless to say we had very few "formal" dinners, and it was a challange to serve meals that were fast, filled us up, were tastey, and at least a little nourishing. Over the years I latched onto some real family "gems". Translated: "most often requested". I'd love to give credit where credit is due but unfortunately I don't have a clue as to where these originated. All I have are a few stained, faded, hand written recipie cards, and in some cases just memory, and my own changes. Now, mind you, I was cooking for a sizable "thrashing crew", so I never bothered to shave these recipies down. So!
either be prepared to freeze the left-overs, or call the kids and let them know whats' for dinner. Oh yes, another hint - my favorite utensils are an old beat up army mess kettle and a 8 qt. stainless kettle. The frying pan I use makes a chicken fryer look like a tea cup. I'd guess about 14" in diameter. So think large and hungry, and that should give everyone a pretty good idea of what size utensils are adequate. I have a knack of sticking to the basics, as you'll no doubt notice. My attitude is " if it ain't broke don't try to ruin it" Either that or my kids had arrested taste buds and never told me.
