Chaing Mai, Nov 13thFelt OK when I got up this morning. We had breakfast and then walked down to the Thai Airways office to confirm our ticket back to LA. Bernard and his wife saw us and stopped to talk. They had rented a motorcycle and were cruising around. I thought of doing that as I ride a motorcycle at home but I was nervous of driving on the left side of the road. Hired a taxi to take us to the Hill tribe shop. Also stopped at the jade and silver factory, the silk factory and the umbrella factory. It appeared the people in the silk factory were working very hard. there was a display of the life cycle of the silk worm. Each one at a hand loom. The taxi driver waited for us at each place, all for the same price. Started to feel sick and a headache again. Thought it must be the noise and the pollution. Back at the hotel lay down for awhile. Then sat at the pool and visited with the Swiss couple, looked at their pictures. They spoke French and not much English. Pauline is French Canadian so she could converse with them. I can follow a conversation but can not speak very well. Brian, Rita, Bob, Pauline and I decided to go to an Italian restaurant for dinner. Pleasant evening, sort of wrapped things up after the trek. Feeling better. Hope it continues. |
