CAMPING 1998

WELCOME TO ALASKA!
CAMPING 1998

This was our first camping trip [this year] to Anchor Point, Alaska. Memorial Day 1998, was blustery, cloudy and cold, but we had a wonderful time. Two of the grand-children, from Arizona was up for a visit and had a grand time fishing. There were about 15 people in our party! The following are just some of the pictures we took.

Stephanie with her 75 pound Halibut, which was the largest catch of the weekend. This was her first day fishing in Alaska. Steph will be a senior in high school next term.

Brian caught this 65 pound Halibut, as well as one 40 and one 35 pounder. Even the 35 pounder was nothing to sneeze at! Brian just completed his first year in college, and will be working with an engineering firm during the summer.

Stephanie and Brian with their catch for the day. The two day catch of these youngsters were well over 200 pounds. The above pictures were taken about 11:30pm. We had about 18 hours of sunlight during this weekend in Alaska.

Bill and grandson Brian, ready for another day fishing.

CHOW TIME!!

This was a cold, windy day, and time for a bowl of hot stew. Few pictues were taken, as we were all busy eating. Even though there were 15 of us, I did not manage to get a picture of everyone.

While most were out fishing. A number of us stayed at camp. This is the other two grand-children, Amanda & Josh, who live here in Alaska. Josh is two years old, and Amanda is 14 and will be going into the 9th grade next year.

Debbie stays busy with the three black labs, when she is not busy preparing food for the hungry campers.

This is Portage Glacier, located approximately 40 miles South of Anchorage. This glacier is receding at the present time. At the Visitors Center here, you can see a film giving you many details of the glacier. There is also a tour boat available to take you right up to the glacier. This is one of the many stops made by the tour buses out of Anchorage.

Here they are on the top of Mt. Alyeska, a favorite ski resort also south of Anchorage.

This was made in front of our house, standing next to our camper. The last day of their visit. It was a fun time, and we hope they will be able to visit again next year.
